I planned the evening since I had been there once before. It was a hectic for an 8:15 reservation. The waitress was nice but the service overall was not good. My friend was not served his wine with the rest of the drinks. We had to get their attention for silverware and they did not come around to see how we were doing. The food was ok but I really have a problem when a pre-fixe menu adds additional fees for items on the pre-fixe, isn't that the idea?
Because of Mirabelle's stellar reputation, four of us took my mom there for the Sunday brunch this past weekend. The brunch, unfortunately, was very disappointing. To start, when the waitress brought coffee to our table it was lukewarm, and had to be sent back twice before it was hot. One of us requested a drink, and it didn't come for twenty minutes, and only when we had to remind the waitress that we had ordered it. The biggest disappointment was the brunch itself. The food was pretty mediocre, and even the presentation wa... read more
We were very disappointed by the food, the monkfish was dry and barley not cooked thoroughly. Our waiter was not experienced and the service was very slow.
We had a delightful Sunday brunch with good service and food. It was nicely done. Went back for a dinner and had a one hour wait for our appetizers. They were fine when they arrived as were our entrees. The waitress gave us free extra glasses of wine for our trouble. Good save but the place didn't seem to have its act together trading on its atmosphere and reputation rather than being a well run establishment with good food.
I had been hearing about this restaurant for years and was excited to finally have an opportunity to go to Mirabelle Tavern for a weekday lunch with my family. I was extremely disappointed with both the food and the service. Although my meal started with a reasonably good salad, the main course, a spinach and mozzarella torte, was tasteless. My son, who works part-time as a personal chef, ordered bass over ratatouille and was extremely disappointed. The fish was overcooked and was topped with what tasted like tomato paste ou... read more
Was seated in loud corner of mostly empty room. Hot food was dried out and cold. Omelettes very greasy. There were no muffins as advertised. We often couldn't our find server when needed. We were very disappointed. Also, was a snowy day and steps in front of building were not cleared off.
I made a 3:30 reservation (December 19) for my friend and I. The restaurant looked beautiful and was actually empty. Our waiter told us to choose any table. We enjoyed our meal and were finishing our wine when dessert arrived. The waiter then brought the check and said the table was reserved and we had five minutes left to use it. I was shocked and embarrassed. I chose Mirabelle because it is supposed to be so elegant and I never dreamed we would be treated in such a way. We were dumbfounded. We asked another waiter if he co... read more
We selected the restaurant for our annual Christmas dinner with friends. The menu was very limited and the food was OK. We never realized that during the week, they only serve in the Grill Room which is nice, but not special. We would not go back.
Mirabelle Tavern is definitely neither the old Mirabelle in St. James nor the Mirabelle restaurant next door. The service was haphazard and mediocre at best (at one point we had to ask for silverware), the noise level was loud and the ambiance was non-existent. The food was OK but not inexpensive ($34 prix fixe menu with many possible supplemental charges, and the wine was significantly over priced) yet some of the other diners were poorly dressed even by Long Island's casual standards. I would not recommend this restaurant ... read more
