Paumanok is the absolute best! They are always available when your animal is sick and will see him/her right away. They truly care about all of the animals. They have taken such great care of my dog. All of the vets are fantastic! I wouldn't trust anyone else.

I wish I had a better reason for writing this review... I took in a stray kitten, and decided to take her to get checked out first thing this morning. I knew she must have fleas and mites, which she did, but I didn't know she had a hernia that was badly infected. She was unfortunately too sick for me to take care of, so I had to make the very difficult decision to put her down. For the surgery she needed, she just wasn't well enough to even stand a chance. I brought my 15 year old Shih Tzu and was seen by Dr. Dee Hensen who was about the most compassionate vet I've ever seen. I did not feel rushed at all and the exam was thorough. I was able to get an appointment rather quickly as their hours are very flexible and fit into most everyone's schedule. The office was clean and the staff was very pleasant. We just took our dog here to get a pedicure and all of her shots. She is a Shepard mix and pretty aggressive. No other vet would take her and sedate her to get the work done. At this place, everyone was super nice and supportive. They were able to get the job done very well...and fast. We had dr David Hensen and he was very informative. I absolutely adore this veterinarian. I had brought in a rescue kitten to Farmingvile hospital which wanted to charge me a few thousand and no guarantee she did or didn't have feline leukemia. I left there as sick as my kitten. 3 days later found paumanok. My kitten was so badly sick. They told me it was my decision but unfortunately she wouldn't make it. I loved the honesty. I just read Tony D's comment and complaint about Paumanok Vet Hospital. I have been going to Dr dave and Dr dee for 25 years. I have always found them to be honest, caring to both animals and humans. Losing a pet is very very difficult because pets are members of our families. Sometimes when emergencies happen emotions are very high. Add to this having to put your pet to sleep and it is not expected can make emotions even higher. Having a pet can be expensive but this is one part of having a pet. I read Tony D's comment with concern and compassion. I can only say that Paumanok is a wonderful place for animals and their humans. I have taken all my pets there for as long as they have been open! It is a very sad time when we lose a pet and emotions are strong. To Tony and family, I am truly sorry for your loss, and yes, veterinary care can be quite expensive. Best vet! They are so nice here. It was my first time and they gave me a tour of the hospital. The doctors are awesome. I love it. Highly recommend it!!!!
