This place is the worst. Took our family dog REESE here in the past, years ago. The owner walked the dog out to me and didn't know she was a girl. Did he even do anything? He dragged her out and didn't look at me or Reese. I was furious. He overcharged for what he 'did' as well. Luckily It was nothing major and Reese was fine. Just today we took Reese back, due to the covid, it is very hard to get an emergency appointment. This vet is very rude and has the lack of compassion not only did he not want to take the time needed to answer questions regarding my family pet but he stated that tomorrow is a holiday he probably won't make it till the following day so euthanize him but hurry up and make a choice because I have other patients and have a life to get on with. I was looking for a Vet (as mine is on vacation this week --Patchogue Animal Hospital)...and came across a place I used when I first moved here---Paumanok ---NOT surprised by the bad reviews but sad to see the same ridiculous stuff is still going on so many years later.... 1 star is generous. Dr. Dave played on my emotions and was extremely condescending while doing so. He would not take his time to explain anything to me and was extremely dismissive. Once he realized I wasn't automatically willing to swipe my card for the outrageous amount of money he was attempting to charge me without a full explanation of what actually needed to be done, he was ready to move on to his next victim. I'm going to choose my words very carefully because I don't want people thinking this place is terrible. We are happy with some of the vets and staff there with the exception of Dr. Dave Henson, who happens to be the owner. He should not be seeing patients. He should strictly be designated to running the business and making money. He is incompetent as a vet. The staff knows it too. I'm going to spare you the gory details of putting our beloved dog to sleep, but his handling of this emotional event was disgraceful.

Dr David Henson abused my family's emotional state by recommending euthanasia without physically examining our Pit Bull. He stated that my pet's hind leg paralysis could be caused "by possibly a slipped disc; I really don't know." He did discuss diagnostic testing and possible surgery without touching at the minimum the spine of my dog. He only checked his heartbeat and his vet tech took his temperature. I took my dog to that vet and till this day I still have problems with my dogs skin I pay them around 900 dollar's on medication for him and no results the doctor told me that if this does not go away you will have to see a specialist but the thing is that the first time I want the doc said o its common in pitbulls we get all the time so why is my dog still sick and it's not about the money it's about knowing what has to be done to fix is sickness the worst vet I've ever going to and I have the invoice to prove and pic how ... read more

I have read many others reviews at how great this place is, unfortunately my experience there was horrible. I own two beautiful Belgium Malinois Shepherds, female and male. The first time that I bought our female Mali we had Dr. Maggie and she was AWESOME! with our dog and our female Mali loved her. Dr. Maggie treated her like an old friend in need, as for the other staff I could not believe that they were Licensed Professionals. This is an honest review. My husband and I took our beloved cat to this practice late one night in a panic because she was sick and they were open late and we could get there quickly. We saw dr. Dave and essentially he told us our cat was sick and wanted us to pay $1,500+ for him to run tests on her, just for the night. He showed us what the bill would be, with all the charges and he had even added in $150 in "micelanesious" charges because he said he "never knows" what other tests he might have to run.
