Redeye is always quality food, and priced reasonably for the neighborhood. What was a delightful surprise on this visit is what Redeye did beyond their regular menu. This lunch date was scheduled during the Passover week. My dietary requirements left me ordering simply-grilled fish and other items not restricted for those observing the holiday. The food was pretty good, but it was seriously over priced; for that reason we won't return.
Great choice of attractive dishes in a "post rockefeller ambiente"...however the "BigCity Hotdog" provoqued almost an obscene impression concerning the dimensions.
Redeye was very good. However, the steak portions were smaller than our last visit. Also, we really missed the cotton candy they used to give as a surprise after the meal. That made it fun. On Sunday's, they used to give the baked goods out in little bags and we would have them on our Amtrak train ride home the next am. It's the little things that make a restaurant extraordinary rather than ordinary.
Food presentation was wonderful service was excellent Pretzel bread was a nice change Seasonings of fish were perfect and different Butternut squash soup was enjoyable When the chocolate mousse showed up in buckets this became one of my top 5 restaurants of NYC !!!!!!!! Also,loved the macaroons!!!

Very good, although very pricey
The redeye grill is very convenient to Carnegie hall. They have a nice menu with fresh seafood abounding, so imagine my surprise when I ordered the famous cobb salad with crispy shrimp. I was thinking a nicely breaded fresh fried shrimp but got no more than a frozen popcorn shrimp that I have purchased many times for my young children. I was stunned!! We had a good attitude however and left humming the "gortons fisherman" song!! Other food ordered was fine but certainly won't repeat in a city where food is abundant!!
We've eaten at the Redeye several times before, though mainly for lunch. We were seated promptly and given what we think is the best table in the house, where we could see who was coming in and leaving. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable, but his one misstep was that he did not tell us about the specials. Indeed, we didn't know there were any until we heard another waiter recite them for a nearby table. The food was fresh and delicious. We will certainly return.
