I used to frequent RedEye on a regular basis, and especially so when guests would visit. It would be a great meeting point that had good food in a good location. I don't know what happened, but it seems that the menu changed a bit and the prices are WAY outpriced for Theamount of food that you get and the quality. Don't get me wrong, the food was good, but the prices are too expensive for what you get,especially when ordering from the specials menu. We went to redeye grill 10 years ago and loved. At the time is was moderately-high priced restaurant with a live jazz band and a vibrant, energetic atmosphere. We visited again in June of 2012. The place has changed. It was a quieter, much more expensive place with uneven service. We weren't crazy about the menu, and at almost $50/entry we were not impressed with quality. I wouldn't say it's a tourist trap, but maybe well on the way there.

The hostess was friendly and made you feel welcome. My sirloin was excellent, cooked just the way I like it, very tender. Atmosphere was good, not too noisy. The young man who cleaned off our table was very professional and accomadating.

Redeye always represents quality. It is a real New York restaurant and was a great place to bring friends who were visiting from out of town. We love the place. By the way - I usually have the grilled fish preparations - this time I had to try their new Lobster and Crab Lasagna - I know... not exactly on the low fat diet, but REMARKABLE! It was worth every single calorie. Man that was good.

Red Eye has kept up their quality for years, as I see other places become mediocre and rest on their laurels, The halibut was the freshest and tastiest ever, and the soft shells were to die for.

I have eaten at the Redeye Grill 1 or 2 times a year for many years. I'm guessing 8 to 10 years. In its early years it was great. The last several years its been good to very good. I've always gone back to eat dinner. However, this past Thursday was my last time to eat at the Redeye. It's not what it use to be, and my last experience was simply bad: mediocre food at top quality prices.

Always enjoy this place when going to Carnegie Hall. This time (and unusually) the staff seemed slightly distracted: we had to signal for everything from refills to getting the check. But overall, a good experience.
