We went to Redeye on a snowy and windy night last week, and the experience was excellent -- friendly staff and waiter, immediate seating at a table where we could look out at the snowy scene outside. Food was well-prepared, and I recommend the sea bass cooked mediterranean style in a clay pot, stays nice and hot. Prices reasonable for this part of Manhattan.
There was TOO much salt in everything we ordered. The food would have been good if that was a problem.
Lobster or crab cobb salad (hold the chicken, though!)is a must order.
My go-to restaurant for business lunches in the midtown area for years now, it never disappoints. Both service and food quality are consistently good. The Red Eye's famous Cobb Salad remains my all-time favorite and now comes in a "lunch" size portion, which is still too large to finish. Although a tad noisy at times, it has a great New York "feel" and is always festive. Staff was friendly...food was good....group of seven...seated quickly....A pleasant, fun experience.
The Redeye Grill is welcoming and the perfect place for a pre-concert dinner before Carnegie Hall. The food is very good -- seafood is a specialty -- and everything was nicely prepared and presented. The lump crab cake is excellent. The servers are very pleasant and responsive.
The naked men and women murals might be off putting for "family" oriented diners. It was fine for us, but those who are more sensitive might want to take this into consideration.
We were going to be seated at a table jammed in between other diners. When we went to leave, the matre'd rallied and found us another table that was more up to expectations. Overbooked for holidays. Food just average. OK for pre theater, but don't think I'll go back.
We went to to the restaurant for my 29th birthday and the entire experience was very nice. The food was excellent and the entire staff was very professional and ensured we had an delightful time. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and look forward to going again.
