My husband and I and another couple met Sunday evening for dinner. The food was excellent, wine selections very good. Our servers were prompt and helpful. When my husband and I stood up after dinner, our black clothing was covered with white lint. One of our servers saw the dismay on our faces and rushed over to explain that " the white napkins do that, but we also have black napkins for those who ask for them." Not knowing about the special black napkins, we did not ask for them nor were they offered before we sat down. I t... read more
The restaurant was very noisy, tables were extremely close together and the food was mediocre. All of that could be understood however the service was atrocious, actually sat for 20 minutes after completing our meal with plates still in front of us, empty drink glasses and still had to flag down the waitress. She was also not very knowledgeable on the wine/drink list as well. For the money charged it was definitely not worth it.
Ristorante was the one Bartolotta restaurant in Milwaukee that we had not been to so on our anniversary we went with expectations to experience more of the Bartolotta way. Our server hardly came by to see if we needed anything. He seemed much too busy for us. The toasted bread for the appetizer was burnt - not just extra dark- black. Same thing with some of the fish in my husband's dish. We will not be returning to Ristorante.
It was Valentine's Day and very busy. I hope they were just having an off night. The bread was delicious.
This restaurant is a small crowded place, and loud conversation from all angles filled the air. Thus it is not a place for a date. The vast wine list was imposing to this amateur with imposing prices too. Some moderately priced wine selections would be appreciated. We were served by two waiters. While the service was excellent, we could think of no reason why we needed to deal with two instead of just one. We didn't order salads which was an oversight. We wished our waiter(s) had suggested a salad or appetizer.
Usually this has been a favorite of ours. We came at 1:00 and it was not busy it took about 10 minutes for the waitress to come to our table and another 15 minutes for a beverage. She forgot the bread twice. The food was fair to average and over priced.
service and food is not worth the price.
There were too many staff people in our faces all meal. We told two of them to stop pulling our plates until the rest were finished, and they obviously did not tell their colleagues and we were continually bothered. The food, in general, was good. The penne with eggplant was inedible and was returned. On the way out, the server realized that we were celebrating two birthdays that evening and she handed a few pieces of tiramisu, which was nice gesture, but it seemed ingenious, and clearly not what we wanted. We were at the re... read more
I come here with friends and family for my birthday every year and this year on 10/14 it was very disappointing. Both the food and the service were not up to the usual standards. Very disappointing.
