I called at 10:30 in the morning to see if they had room today to groom my two year old puppy. They asked me how soon I could get there and I said 15-20 minutes. So they said they could get her in. At 4:10 I got a call saying that she was too aggressive to bathe. My dog has been groomed on numerous occasions by numerous groomers and I have never been told that she's anything but sweet. I would like to know why it took them 5 hours to call me and what they did to her in that time to make her aggressive? I do not recommend Rov... read more

Dear Sonya, I am so sorry we were not able to clearly communicate to you exactly how Madison spent her time with us and what we did to handle her. I can assure you that Rover Oaks does not tolerate rough handling of a pet, and, as happened with Madison, we will not bathe a dog if we cannot safely do so using positive methods. Madison was the last bath appointment to arrive, and therefore she was the last to be pulled for her bath. We tried to work with her throughout the first few hours to help her be more comfortable, ... read more

I boarded my 2 cats (sisters) for 15 days in May 2014. I found the kennels extremely small for the cost, but as it was my first time boarding my cats in the US, I used Rover Oaks on a referral. After collecting my cats, one was a bit out of sorts and seemed to have a swollen tail, but I thought I may just be paranoid and she maybe just needed time to settle after being kenneled, so I gave her space, didn't touch her tail and monitored her eating. But, after developing a temperature on the second day, and not eating one morni... read more

I boarded my 2 dogs at Rover Oaks (Katy) for a week last year, and they both loved their visit. I was excited to call them back this year for a 2 week boarding, and I was fully prepared to pay the nearly $2k it was going to cost. I submitted a request for a reservation online, waited a week for someone to call me, and decided to call myself. I called the office and was transferred to the "reservations specialist" for assistance, but she didn't answer her phone. I left a voicemail asking her to please call me back right a... read more

My mom and I have used this place twice in the past. The first we had used this place, we had no problems and the process went smoothly. We felt the facility looked clean on the outside, though the downside is that there are no cameras. The second time we came around, my mom's dog had contracted kennel cough. They said they had monitored her and she only had one cough, but she was coughing a lot when my boyfriend had picked her up. I'm still irked that they should have called me that morning, but management was kind enough ... read more

We had to schedule a last minute visit for our two boys with Rover Oaks due to a death in my family. They were unable to accommodate our leave time, so my father-in-law was scheduled to drop them off the day after we left. When he arrived at the facility - they claimed they had not received the faxed information regarding their updated shot records from the vet. I had called and checked with the vet and with Rover Oaks regarding the records prior to leaving town. The girl at Rover Oaks stated that she had a large stack of... read more

We picked up our happy one year old Golden from here after a long weekend last week. After paying the $300 dollar bill they brought out our sick and hurting puppy with huge raw spots on his neck.We had received no call nor had they mentioned a problem until the handler brought him out. I do not think he could have hurt himself like this if he had received the care, special play times, and coddling we paid for. He is better now after seeing the vet and a week of antibiotics.

Business response:

I'm sorry that the author's Golden Retriever did develop a significant hot spot in the neck area, which either developed suddenly or was hidden by his heavy coat. Unfortunately, dogs sometimes do develop hotspots especially when the dog has a thick or matted coat. Either way, our pet care staff detected the hotspot when the Golden was bathed on the afternoon of his departure. The supervisor pointed this out to the owner when she picked him up, and recommended a visit to the veterinarian. Upon learning about the situation tod... read more
