The restaurant is in a great spot and very nice inside. Our waiter was great. Very helpful and very considerate. The problem is it is one of those restaurants where they use the team server system where whoever is there brings food out. I ordered a steak with two types of side orders of vegetables. The vegetables must have been sitting ready for a while because they were cold when they came out. When I sent them back our waiter said the new ones should be ready soon. We reserved a table New Years Eve at Saltlik as we have many times in the past. Our table was delayed for a short period of time but we were able to wait in the bar. Once seated we were greeted by a kind young waiter who appeared to be inexperienced. Our appetizers were served - the Caesar salad was very good however the French Onion Soup was filled with bread cubes. The table beside us arrived later and received their meals well before us. Service was adequate. The room itself is nice. The food was not good. Cheese toast was terrible, something under a hot lamp. My homemade grilled cheese is better. Steak was under cooked as I asked for medium rare and got rare. My wife wasn't overly thrilled either. By no means are we the picky or foodie type but we know what we like and this was not it.

We were welcomed and seated by one person, had a second take our wine order and inform us that a third person would be looking after us, and after some time had the third person introduce himself and re-take our wine order again. I went for lunch with a colleague who is leaving Calgary, and wanted to have Alberta Beef before leaving. The service was poor, waitress couldn't remember our drink order (simple, 2 glasses of water and a Ginger Ale), and also couldn't remember our steak order (simple, 1 medium Fliet and 1 medium Sirloin). Filet steak was over cooked, and Sirloin steak was under cooked. Waitress never came back to check on water refill or food qaulity. Only came back to take plates away and give us the bill. Expected better, especially for the price. One of the steaks was under cooked and neither was very tender. $35 for a piece of meat and a potato? When you make it into a real meal (i.e. add some vegetables) you're looking at $45 - $50 / plate. Service wasn't very attentive - food plates roughly placed on the table as staff hurried off. First cup of coffee was undrinkable, second was about the same - probably the same pot. Overall no major incidents but won't be in a hurry to return.

I would most definitely not recommend this restaurant to anyone unless your looking for good food that takes forever servers who do not know how to do their jobs properly and take your half full drinks away before your finished. I work in the industry so I may be a little picky about service but I am also forgiving for tiny mistakes not just clearly stupid mistakes. I will never go to saltlik again

Dinner for two to forget. Shared a starter - bad idea as it was tiny. Waited for ages for our main course because the kitchen was busy (what a pathetic excuse for a restauratn!), side veggies arrived and the brocolli was burnt black. Waitress constantly interrupted - what she had to say was much more important than the conversation we were engaged in. Not a good experience and definitely not worth the $140 price tage (only included 3 alcoholic drinks and we shared a starter and dessert!). One to avoid definitely...
