The food and ambience were great. Our waiter was like a mannequin - no personality, SLOW and we had to ASK for a second glass of wine and dessert menus. He ignored our table for long periods of time, while water glasses were the only thing dutifully tended to. Very odd for such an otherwise nice evening. We also had to ask for the bill and then ASK for him to separate out different bills. He anticipated NOTHING. Really a poor server.
We had a reservation and had two wonderful dinners. Excellent food, great people watching. Our server was named Dave and took very good care of us.
Outstanding in every way, exceeding my expectations. The atmosphere is art deco, right out of the roaring 20's.
I spent 30 years in the hospitality industry, 5 years as Director of US operations for Elephant & Castle. The food and service at The Commodore were outstanding in every way. You could tell the staff were "all in" from the minute you arrived.
Was a lovely evening. Love the dress code, food, service, location 5 star
We were celebrating a 75th Birthday with friends. William our server was outstanding as he paid attention to us. Food was tasty and hot when it arrived. Service and price was great. We will come back soon.
This was a birthday celebration for my brother and his wife, both recent. We each selected a different entree, and all 4 were excellent - pork chop, steak, salmon and filet of sole. Our server was excellent in knowing when we wanted service or uninterrupted time to eat and talk. The Commodore is a trip into time with F Scott Fitzgerald and friends with a modern touch. We have recommended it to some friends and will continue to do so.
My date and I had the lamb chops and the Risotto for an appetizer, both were fantastic. We also had a couple specialty drinks that we yummy and unlike anything we've had before. Don't be afraid to try the coconut and chocolate desert, you will not be disappointed. Numerous intimate rooms and old school ornate décor makes this place very special. They also have their own parking lot close to the door so parking will never be an issue. We will be back to try something else soon.
The restaurant and the menu reflects the bygone era. We dined at 5:00 so we could get parking and beat the crowded bar and the noisy atmosphere. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. Salad and cream of leek soup the best ever in flavor and texture. Our lamb chops were perfectly cooked but strangely presented on a plate slathered with what tasted like refried beans and a mustard sauce and the seasonal vegetables were undistinguishable. A tasty dessert was served with applesauce which oozed around the plate. The fun atmosphere... read more
