The menu was limited. It was a quaint historic room but the noise level was quite high. The service was fair and it appeared that our waiter was assigned too many tables to provide attentive service. Even though they were told this was a birthday celebration, it went unrecognized.
How wonderful to experience the style, elegance & fun of the 'roaring twenties'! But our positive reaction to The Commodore wasn't just about the decor. The food was outstanding. And the service was attentive and friendly.
The first thing I noticed was how noisy and loud it was. It was hard to carry on a conversation with my dining companion. The decor was opulent. Service was first rate. The food itself was ok. Portions were adequate. The presentation was worthy enough for a cell phone picture to share with our friends. The food is a bit over priced for some of the items. If you are into signature cocktails and local history, it is a perfect spot to go.
Great unique spot. Excellent friendly service. Fabulous food. Would like more entree choices. There is a parking lot in the back btw !
Great atmosphere in historic building! Very beautiful! Food was average, over priced. Service was mediocre. Celebrating a special event that evening and had no feelings of warmth or welcome from the server. Never received a bread basket as each other table did, fresh cracked pepper is not an option, salad served on a hot plate and dessert was lousy. Provided feedback to GM and heard no response back. Won't be back. Appears to be fun bar scene but not worth dining in.
The noise was extreme. Entrees very good. Lobster deviled eggs just average, if that. French fries very good. Crème brulee disappointing--cold and tasteless. Coffee was good. Service excellent. Dorothy Parker cocktail was tasty.
I have been to the Commodore about 6 times now since they reopened. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. Absolutely my favorite and should not be missed. The food is sublime, the atmosphere amazing.
The Commodore is beautiful! The ambiance can't be beat. All of our meals were very good. The pan fried chicken, pork schnitzel, pasta. The only negative was the noise factor. Wow! Hard to have a conversation!
magnificent environment/delish cocktails and food/it was one of the most memorable birthday celebration dinners we had. we recently moved to MN and were in awe of the history. very nice renovation.....
