I went to sign up yesterday and was taken aback by their pricing policies... I have a membership with Club 24 in Newtown and they offer a $10/month membership for which they waived the signup fee. I've been happy with that gym, but I have a couple of friends that go to this gym and was looking to workout with them. On their website, they indicate a $10/month option (which I thought would be comparable to my Club 24 membership). Horrible cancellation process. Tried to cancel after one week membership and ended up having to pay the entire year. You can't even cancel with them, you are redirected to ABC Financial and the whole process starts all over again. Will never recommend to an
So like any other fitness club everyone thinks its great. So here is where the rubber meets the road. What happens when you cancel? 1. The process for cancellation is much more complicated than it is for signing up. when you sign up its a one stop shop. When you cancel its calling multiple entities and alerting them to cancel. 2. I am deeply disappointed by the edge. Their sales tactics are completely unacceptable. I have a 20-year-old young woman visiting on a student visa who went to explore a membership. I told her to take advantage of the one week free trial before making a final decision. She is German speaking and new to this country and I wanted to make sure she was fully comfortable with the gym. Instead she was refused the one week trial and forced into a 12 month membership. This a very slick gym with lots of "cool factor", but the emphasis from day one is to get you to pay more than the advertised $10/mo. They offer "free" evaluations to persuade you to increase that $10/mo to $90/mo for their "premium" classes. And why not add another $170/mo. for four 30 minute personal training sessions, where they will spend the time you've paid for trying to convince you to get on their diet & supplement plan? This place is way over crowded.Plus if they are not emailing me to buy something they are texting me. Equipment breaks to fast for a new club. Yes its new and hot but they should set a limit to the amount of memberships they sell. If I didn't sign up for a year(which they will not let you out of not matter what) I would have gone to different club. Save yourself the headache and try other clubs in the area.
Really disappointed! I work full time and have no much time to exercise. Last week my daughter of 11 years old was diagnosed with diabetes and to exercise is essential. So I called The Edge at Danbury and the person that I spoke was really nice and told me to go there in person to talk with the manager but he guarantee to me that my daughter would be welcome as well (even knowing about her age). I joined the edge, only a couple of months ago. I recently have been very disappointed. First off I have moved to a new location for school and don't have an edge around me(over 20 miles) away which on the contract it says that you can cancel your membership if you move within 15 miles of an edge fitness center. Secondly within the last two months I have gotten 2 maintenance charges one for 50.00 and one for 40.00 just recently. I was never informed for the second charge. Now it seems when you have a problem with this place they want to make every excuse in the book and then stop answering your emails and promising to give you a call to talk about it but never actually calling you! If I were any of you looking for a gym I'd certainly not join edge, not professional in any way shape or form.
