I joined this gym 2 years ago, and during that time I feel the gym has deteriorated. I am particularly unhappy with the classes, since that was one of the primary reasons I joined this club. I have found that the class schedule is extremely limited Pilates, for one, is given 3 times a week, and at very inconvenient times, like 11AM. In addition,I find the quality of the instructors lacking. As most of us know, form is extremely important in fitness, in terms of effectiveness and safety. ONCE YOU'VE SIGNED THEIR CONTRACTS, THEY WILL NOT LET YOU CANCEL THEM UNLESS YOU MEET THE REQUIREMENT LISTED IN THE FINE PRINT THAT THEY DO NOT INFORM YOU OF OR GIVE TO YOU! DO NOT JOIN EDGE FITNESS CLUB!! They will tell you if you move out of the area, or have a doctor note, you can cancel your membership any time. THAT IS A LIE!!!! I found out I'm pregnant after couple months joined edge fitness. I told them I feel suffocated and cannot breathe in the gym, because it's in the basement type of thing. This place makes absolutely no sense. You will pay more for the Greenwich location because they have a smaller location and a smaller parking lot. The equipment is old and not updated while the Fairfield/Trumball gym has brand new machines and they pay less per month. When questioned about the strange policy the staff said "well that's Greenwich for you." Great customer service! Don't waste your time here, there's a NYSC down the street.
Reasonably simple gym layout with good selection of weigh lifting equipment & modest cardio area. Have been happy with the variety of equipment available. However, I have to echo some of the other warnings I found listed about club policies & management. Although I loved my trainer, Meghan I have to say that their policies are outrageous. After telling me that they no longer require their members to cancel via registered, certified mail, they have lied about cancelling my membership. Shaun supposedly cancelled it on March 21st but I was still charged on March 26 for another month. Not to mention the training sessions I was talked into with the emphasis placed on auto-renewal after the 4th session unless I cancelled. I am so angry after my recent encounter at The Edge. Where do they get their staff? My brother signed up for a 2 month membership which he got for a discount rate of $49 because he is in town for the holidays. Since my Dad has been a long-time member and my brother is now going, I decided to buy the 2 month deal because I am living here for the short term while I apply for jobs and get surgery. Billing is a HUGE issue when I tried to cancel my membership. I am a student and I wanted a 3 month student membership. They signed me up for an annual membership and now I am having HUGE problems cancelling. I had to provide them with my school transcript and a copy of my paid tuition bill and they still have not cancelled my membership and now are calling me for collections. I am very frustrated and don't know how to cancel this. NEVER Sign up for this club.
Do NOT give them your credit card info until you completely understand exactly how to cancel. I've been trying to cancel for 60 (SIXTY) days now. As I type this, i am sitting on hold with the financial company that does their billing. ITS REDICULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
