The front desk girls and I mean girls not women are not helpful and down right rude...down to their eye rolling when you ask for help. The gym is too crowded, not that anyone can help that, it's frustrating to get a good workout in. The parking is awful, the bathrooms are usually disgusting...BUT other then a few of the front desk staff, the other staff are friendly and helpful and the facility has great equipment.

Wish I could give this gym zero stars. I signed up when the gym first opened.... I thought it was a great deal at the time. I can't stand the atmosphere and the classes are HORRIBLE! Also one of the tanning beds is almost always broken- don't bother signing up either because they don't even use the list and people cut the line anyways.... And the two girls at the front desk don't do a thing when that happens. I just cancelled my membership....which was a hassle- I had to write a letter to the third party that manages the Edg... read more

This place was awesome in the beginning but now it's over crowded, you have to fight for machines and there is no room to work out. You can't get a parking spot between 5-8 so expect to see several cars parked in the middle of the road blocking traffic and causing road rage. If you get here when it's slow which is rare it can be a pretty good workout, but anybody with a 40 hour 9-5 schedule shouldn't even bother.

Business response:

Hello Jonahtan, We are sorry to hear that you have had a negative experience. We will address the issue and we hope you will come back and see us soon.

DO NOT SIGN UP HERE UNLESS YOU ARE 18. I signed up for a platinum membership and was told I would get all of these great offers, BUT when I went to go use them, for example tanning, it turns out you have to be 18. there are a lot of things you can't do here unless you are 18 which I should have been told upon signing up.

Business response:

Hi Kelia, We are sorry you are upset by the age policy, however, it is CT state law that persons under 18 not be permitted to tan. We have some wonderful other services and hope you decide to come back and see us again despite the state law.

The Edge is a great gym that I highly recommend to others to join. It is large enough for you too not feel cramped in space, offers excellent cardio options and provides clients with various options for classes to take. Some amenities include a locker room with showers, a sauna, tanning, shake bar and even a childcare center. Although I love this gym, the other members who attend and the trainers who show clear skills when helping clients improve on their goals, there is a down side. The manager who runs this gym is alwa... read more

A bit on the policy/greedy side. Just called as wife's going to be away -- a temp freeze requires 30 days notice (impossible). I offered to pay a small fee and go in her place. Nope but they would be happy to take $70 from me (ALONG w/ the $ we are paying for her for Nov when she is away.) Mgr just quoted contract terms/policy. No real interest in members; just $. Not cool. Will try somewhere else.

First off the employees are horsing around the members are doing whatever they want there's way too much people here for the size of the place the equipment is failing it's not being kept up it's a disaster I have no idea why I signed up here i'm into the bodybuilding seen this is the wrong spot for it a bunch of immature kids running the place and when I mean kids there probably in their 20s 30s will not go back ever

I agree with Brian about the personnel at the front desk and the management in general. Their manager Tom Wilson always acts arrogant and none of the employees are willing to help, they don't want to issue any credits, even if you came to the kids care and decided not to stay, they will not issue a refund. My major complaint is the kids care management, more specifically their supervisor Yolanda Perkins, who is very inattentive to children's needs and is plain rude when communicating with them. I know that one of the childr... read more

The Edge Fitness Club in Meriden is one of the cheaper options in the area advertising for just 10 bucks a month. Although this price is great for what the gym offers BEWARE. First of all, most of the staff is lackluster at best with there response to any member requests or complaints. When complaining about the constant 30 minute wait on tanning. (being that there are only 3 tanning beds, for, at times, over 100 people in the gym) The two girls working the front desk belittled us after asking to downgrade our membership to ... read more
