I signed up at Edge in Deptford on December 2nd. I was told the promotion I was signing up for was one month free and no money down. The guy who signed me up VERBALLY told me many times that I would NOT be charged anything until JANUARY 31st! Fast forward to Monday December 31st and my card is charged $31.98. The Edge is a SCAM. $10/month membership fee comes out to almost double that when they charge you $200 "maintenance fees" without warning or reason. I've been trying to cancel my membership with them for SIX MONTHS because I moved out of state and they CONTINUE to charge my bank account every month DESPITE being told multiple times every month that it was canceled. READ BEFORE SIGNING UP!!!!!!I signed up about three weeks ago. I was told I could cancel my membership at any point and time. I asked multiple times if I could cancel at anytime and would I have a cancellation fee. Chris said there's no fee if you cancel from a medical injury, if your in the military, or if you move far away. So I signed up, edge says open 24/7 but that's not true they close at 7pm on weekends. I like this gym. It's very high tech with fresh different amenities. Also very clean. Although due to life changes I don't need the kids club membership or the highest membership. I wanted to go down to the lowest one but they said they can't make that change. So I Try and cancel altogether and then they tell me I'm tied to a contact? Yet when I spoke to two employees before joining I asked and none of them were honest. Never in my life have I heard of a gym that won't downgrade the membership. OR cancel. Please be wary of this club. The sales staff will lie to your face in order to make a sale. No matter what time of the day you go to this place it is overly crowded, therefore making the use of equipment damn near impossible unless you have a group of workout buddies to hold a spot for you around any equipment. I tried canceling my membership after 3 months expecting to pay an early termination fee only to be told that I DO NOT qualify for early termination. How is that legal?
Generally a great gym; there's a ton of classes offered and I like all the different machines and versatility. I don't, however, like how it took them a little over a few months to get the Woman's area door fixed. Some of the staff need to be retrained on customer service, as well. There's been times where I've been ignored or they just act like you're an inconvenience. I also love how I get texts asking me to join the gym and set up a session when I'm already paying 30$ a month as a member.
Terrible!!! Paying extra for the women's center when the door is broken so those who don't pay for it have easy access as well. What is the point of paying extra. When taking to the manager they refuse to refund me or allow me to switch my contract I hate how everything is being taken care of and don't understand how it can take so long to fix a door. Don't go to this location.
The new Edge Fitness club opened up in Lima (Granite run) on 1/26 - beautiful facility. It is off to a good start! I signed up for the Edge Fit which has everything I need. I do find it odd that the Edge Total has the Women's room - what do you get if you are male? Seems a bit discriminatory against males. Personally I think the women's room should be included in the Edge Fit membership and then the playing field for Edge Total is the same for male/female. So here it is almost November. Edge Deptford is doing a better job with lockers and cleaning, but no progress or communications on Spin room technologies. Even Corporate, who promised to be responding, has gone silent. Over head screens still not working, Spin room temperature continues to be waaaaay too cold, check in kiosks only working half the time.
