I live at the apartment buildings 1144-1160 Commonwealth Ave. The Hamilton Company is Okay, Whenever we have a problem with the building they respond somewhat fast and is so far taken care of within the following few days. On the other hand, We rented from Comm. Ave Associates they are absolutely HORRIBLE would never reccomend to anyone, We looked at the apartment three times within the one day before renting it was in terrible condition the kitchen was an absolute disgrace!! The cabinets were atleast 10-15years olds and wer... read more

Do not rent from them! When I moved into my Allston apartment, it had clearly not been cleaned at all. Several things were broken or nearly broken including a door knob, a towel rack, the buzzer and the smoke detector. The apartment also had roaches. It was very clear the company did not bother to inspect it before I moved in. The only reason I feel slightly okay with giving them one star is that they are very prompt with repair (things are usually fixed the day you call them) and the maintenance people are polite and helpf... read more

I would say that the Hamilton Company is mediocre at best. We moved in last year on a Sunday and needless to say our apartment was lest a total mess by the previous tenants and since it was Sunday there was no one available at the maintenance office to come clean the place. Pretty much ruined my whole moving exprience (if moving wasnt aweful enough of an experience on its own.) They did come the next day and spent almost all day at out little one bedroom apartment cleaning and fixing random things, which pretty much made it ... read more
Update: Our Super has turned out to be a nightmare as well. A few months ago we discovered that he had been entering our apartment without permission when we weren't home. Most recently I had an terrifying experience in which I woke up at 9 AM to him in my bedroom standing over me. Mind you I am a single girl in my early twenties, I screamed bloody murder while he simply kept saying "i knocked". His explanation for being in the apartment was that someone was coming to look at it at 10. Apparently phone calls are not standard... read more
I will soon be leaving a unit on Babcock Street in Brookline. What's sad is that I like my apartment on the whole--it's big, the location is fantastic, and there's parking. No pests, and I haven't had any serious maintenance issues (a leaky faucet, a non-working light fixture here and there). However, the management is so bad that I really can't take it anymore, and they're raising the rent $100/month in a recession. Seriously? From the week I moved into this building, I started to experience mail theft. First, straight out ... read more
The Hamilton Company is very fortunate to own properties in high-demand areas, such as around the Boston University. They are too fortunate unfortunately to see that their properties are in pretty bad shape and they have a lot of unhappy tenants. This review focuses on the properties at 1144-1160 Commonwealth Ave. 1. Structural problems -- The building is late 19th, perhaps early 20th century, and most of the building has not been updated or significantly repaired since then. Cleanliness of common areas is... erm, to put it ... read more
One word: atrocious. I would give this place zero stars if I could. We lived at 283 Saint Paul Street for two years, and we could not get out quickly enough. Among their (many) misdeeds: * delivering us a notice to quit for failure to pay rent despite the fact that we paid our rent on time every month * deducting two months of rent from our checking account in a single month (which caused us to overdraw our account) * failing to return *7* phone calls from us regarding a temporary parking permit while our car was in the shop... read more
