I don’t usually leave bad reviews, but Brooklyn Deli earned this one. First off, don’t be fooled by the mouthwatering sandwich photos they’re about as real as a Bigfoot sighting. The sandwiches are tiny. Like, “where’s the rest of it?” tiny. But here’s the kicker: my wife ordered a crispy chicken Caesar salad and got… drumroll… no chicken. Typical deli with great food. Wait staff was very nice and accommodating. The pastrami was juicy and tender and well- trimmed so no fat or grizzle. Size was just right for lunch and they have extras to add if you want more. Good coffee too! When I go back to NYC will def revisit - maybe for breakfast next time.
This place is your typical deli, and a nice quick stop if you’re headed into Times Square or Central Park. I was incredibly hungry when I decided to pop in and grab a pizza, so my judgements here may have been influenced by that. The pizza wasn’t horrible, but it really just wasn’t very good. Great classic deli sandwiches for average Manhattan borough pricing. Two sandwiches with tip was about $32. The sandwiches themselves had fresh and yummy meats balanced with tasty cheeses. The pickle had a crunch and snap.
A must stop for a great lunch or breakfast sandwich. I had the sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich one day and a hot pastrami another day and they were both excellent. Great flavor and portions. The lox and cream cheese bagel was also delicious. For 2 people at lunch it'll be around $50 with drinks and chips.
