Edited to add: I just received a phone call from the manager of the location, who explained that for clinical reasons they do not offer OB appointments in the early morning, and that my appointment should never have been made at that time. I still find the situation frustrating and unacceptable. They should have noticed the error much earlier, and should have informed me much earlier. Although you need to make appointment way in advance, I can understand why now. Staff was courteous and I was taken in a timely manner. All ultrasounds are done by the Dr. himself, which is not common! The Dr. I saw was friendly, reassuring and informative. After having a horrible experience at Community Radiology (see review), this was a breath of fresh air! Beware- parking can be a little pricey, but very metro accessible and honestly for good service its not a big deal to drop 10-15 bucks on parking!
Chances are, if you're headed to the radiologist, you're a bit nervous (or full fledged panicked, as I was). So my review is here to say: rest assured. Washington Radiology is super-professional and super-friendly; my appointment was at 3pm and I was in the radiologist's office by 3:05 (which was a real blessing since my appointment required me to drink 32 ounces of water and I felt like I was going to burst). As with many visits to health care professionals, needing to go to a radiologist is not necessarily the most fun experience. However, the staff here is exceedingly pleasant and caring. Getting an appointment, though, was not as easy as at another radiology practice that I almost went to (but didn't due to insurance issues) -- the time between scheduling the appointment to the actual appointment was about 2 weeks. I love this place. I've been here three times for different services, and each time they've been friendly, attentive, and provided the best services in the DC area. Though I now live in VA and it's a commute to get out here, I'd still rather use their services. My recent time there they were short-staffed and overwhelmed. Do your research before getting a mammogram, here. I went for a scheduled screening Mammogram on October 30th, the first at Washington Radiology (Chevy Chase location). It is December 1st, and I still have not gotten a proper read. I had to call a week after my mammogram for it to be put on the Radiologist's list to read, and that wasn't the first or last red flag. I used to think this was absolutely the best place to go for imaging. I still believe that their clinical staff is outstanding. Unfortunately, the administrative side of the practice, has become terrible. They never answer the phone, I've waited on hold and then been disconnected multiple times, my results no longer ever make it to my physician or to me. The absolute worst. They injured me to the point that I was in pain for weeks after my mammogram. I filed a complaint with the medical board. stay away from this hell hole.
This place is the worst. After having a nightmare experience with them several years ago - driven at least partly by the fact that there are no phone communications between provider and patients, only unending loops of automated texts or one-way forms - I tried going back after getting dozens of reminders from them to schedule my annual mammogram.
