ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. I will write more soon . For now know that Dr. Hammer basically refused to perform a simple surgery even though I had been approved for financial assistance through NY SAVES. 1500! I was less than $200 shy of their quote and I told her I could cover the rest . She said what if the charges went even higher? My 4.5 year old dog has been receiving care at Animal Kind since we adopted him 3.5 years ago. We have had mostly well visits with a few minor same day sick visits along the way. We brought my dog in last week due to some new concerns. He was evaluated (labs, physical exam) and diagnosed with likely slipped disc. I'm leaving this review ONLY after trying for several weeks and multiple phone calls to schedule a house call for my two elderly cats, one of whom is now sick. I've been a loyal AK client for at least 20 years, bringing in multiple pets, recommending family and friends, and spending many thousands of dollars on what I've usually found to be high quality care by hard-working, capable and caring doctors. Wow, we were 15 min late due to traffic and construction near the Place and they refused to see us unless we paid an emergency fee...... so my pup couldn't get his shots he needs because we were 15 min... the lady at the front desk wasn't nice or accommodating at all.... we traveled far because we liked the Dr, but guess we'll need to find a new place..... guess they don't need the business....

First off, I find it weird that I posted a review for this vet a few years ago, and it has mysteriously disappeared. I no longer remember which vet saw my cat, but his bedside manner was callous and their bills are extremely high. There are many excellent vets in the neighborhood and I suggest you try one of them.

Our cats got great care at Animal Kind for many years but our last experience was horrific and we're not going back there ever again. Animal Kind was recommended to me and my wife when we moved to Brooklyn in 2006. Excellent care was provided to our cats George, Oliver and Ashmont, as they were treated over the years by the very thoughtful, compassionate and highly skilled Drs. Animal Kind has been an awful place for my wife and me and, of course, for our loving pet. Over the years, and especially now that our cat is ailing, they have demonstrated incompetence and inefficiency at every turn. The examples of horrible experiences are too numerous to cite here, but I'll just say that they started on day one, when we requested NO RABBIES VACCINATION, and THEY GAVE HER ONE ANYWAY! Animal Kind used to be a very reputable Veterinary clinic. Once upon a time, They had some very strong, competent clinicians, who were VERY knowledgeable and who treated all my animals with great care. This has changed considerably over past couple of years. The management must've changed, because they've fired several of their very best vets as well as some of the staff..Terrible, terrible decisions! They do not care about you or your dog! I took my dog in and was waiting for lab results. I called to see what the results were and they did not want to tell me, because the vet that took care of her wasn't there. I explained to them that the bump was getting worse and would just like for them to tell me what the lab results said. They showed no remorse for my dog and told me that only a vet that saw her could tell me. How difficult can it be to just say what the results were over the phone!
