My dog wasn't eating. They prescribed antibiotics which made her vomit over next two days. I bring her back and they suggest we admit her for tests - ultrasound, blood work, etc and supportive care. 2 days later they still aren't sure what's wrong but they recommend a surgery to make sure there is no blockage. They do that and still no improvement. Almost a week of "$upportive care" and they tell me they don't know what's wrong with her and I should see a specialist? WTF ? We have used Animal Kind for several of our hamsters in previous years and have always had great experiences until today. On Wednesday, I called to make an appointment for my sick hamster, and I was told the soonest I could see someone was Friday after 2 when the hamster-treating vet came in; they told me that not even their emergency staff was trained to treat hamsters. I will never take another pet here. Both of my dogs had been going to Animal Kind for About 12 years. My beloved 15 year old dog passed away in October while fighting cancer. After many visits and thousands of dollars not one person reached out to express their condolences, not even a card. A$$holes.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. I will write more soon . For now know that Dr. Hammer basically refused to perform a simple surgery even though I had been approved for financial assistance through NY SAVES. 1500! I was less than $200 shy of their quote and I told her I could cover the rest . She said what if the charges went even higher? I said I would be able to figure it out , the most important thing is to get this guy treated. That was not enough for her , and her manager ,and she insisted repeatedly I go to Harlem ASPCA. My 4.5 year old dog has been receiving care at Animal Kind since we adopted him 3.5 years ago. We have had mostly well visits with a few minor same day sick visits along the way. We brought my dog in last week due to some new concerns. He was evaluated (labs, physical exam) and diagnosed with likely slipped disc. I'm leaving this review ONLY after trying for several weeks and multiple phone calls to schedule a house call for my two elderly cats, one of whom is now sick. I've been a loyal AK client for at least 20 years, bringing in multiple pets, recommending family and friends, and spending many thousands of dollars on what I've usually found to be high quality care by hard-working, capable and caring doctors. Wow, we were 15 min late due to traffic and construction near the Place and they refused to see us unless we paid an emergency fee...... so my pup couldn't get his shots he needs because we were 15 min... the lady at the front desk wasn't nice or accommodating at all.... we traveled far because we liked the Dr, but guess we'll need to find a new place..... guess they don't need the business....

First off, I find it weird that I posted a review for this vet a few years ago, and it has mysteriously disappeared. I no longer remember which vet saw my cat, but his bedside manner was callous and their bills are extremely high. There are many excellent vets in the neighborhood and I suggest you try one of them.

Our cats got great care at Animal Kind for many years but our last experience was horrific and we're not going back there ever again. Animal Kind was recommended to me and my wife when we moved to Brooklyn in 2006. Excellent care was provided to our cats George, Oliver and Ashmont, as they were treated over the years by the very thoughtful, compassionate and highly skilled Drs.
