Found this vet by yelp, need to transfer my cat to a closer vet after we moved. When I booked the appointment with phone, I clearly said I need an appointment for my cat teeth cleaning since he has just done blood test and I have records, and he is ready to do cleaning. They said ok, and set up appointment for me, asked me to pay $55as deposit(this is only vet I have ever visited for asking deposit for new clients) I came, but they didn't do teeth cleaning. They said we need do an exam for your cat before and you have to ma... read more

I'm sorry about the miscommunication. I understand that you expected the dental cleaning to occur at the time of your cats initial examination. Since these are anesthetic procedures that can take hours, they require more time and planning. I have spoken to all staff involved in booking your appointment and hope that going forward we will be more clear in setting expectations. Thanks again for speaking to me and for helping me understand how we failed.
We wanted annual checkups/shots for our cats. We understand that for new patients that they require more time so it had to be scheduled on a weekday and have a $55 deposit for each pet. All understandable. However, the receptionist kept telling us to go to other vet clinics because they were cheaper, or because of this/that. We wanted to go to Austin Vet Hospital because of proximity so our cats don't have to endure a long car ride. Cost isn't an issue. My fiance and I make more than enough to cover our pet costs. She made i... read more

Hi Tess. We read your feedback and are eager to learn more about this phone call as it clearly didn't go well for anyone! If you look at the feedback and reviews , you'll see that your experience is NOT typical and in fact people often comment at how welcoming and warm our business is. It sounds like we really failed you and if you could provide me with more information , we can work harder to be certain that this never happens again. I had emailed you a few days ago , but feel free to call and ask for a manager if thats e... read more
I took my pet for an annual visit. I felt like they were trying to cross-sell every possible extra expense. The vet was cold and I felt like I was being judged & somewhat shamed because my dog was a little overdue for a grooming.
It ain't what it use to be! [Please note that the positive reviews are 6/20/18 and earlier.] Trusted, loved and recommended Austin Vet Hospital at every opportunity since 2004 when I moved back to Austin and AVH was located near St. David's Hospital ... but ownership changed when Dr. Besch decided to retire a year or so ago. She still came in one day a week, until this summer. Since then things have gone downhill rapidly; focus has shifted to $$$; some of the staff have left; my last three visits were less than satisfac... read more
READ BEFORE GOING!! This makes me incredibly sad to note that I have decided today to leave this vet hospital. Why? For a multitude of reasons really. First I'd like to say that it's not because of the Doctors, they're fabulous. Unfortunately, it's because of Doug (the front office manager) and the front office staff. I have been in the field of customer service and serving people for over 15 years and it brings me the utmost sadness to say that the lack there of customer service here is mind blowing. In the beginning when ... read more
Watch your wallet! These people are way too casual with other people's money. Over the years I've tried to be laid back about all the nickle-and-diming, but when I finally pushed back about yet another bill I was not warned about, I told them that I would pay if they insisted, but that I would find another vet. Their smarmy business manager preferred to lose a costumer who had spent thousands rather than eat a $45 antibiotic bill. I won't bother detailing or debating all the push-spending they've put me through (they much ... read more
I had a bad experience with this vet clinic. The veterinarian was young and inexperienced and charged me for "pre-paid" services without telling me I'd be charged. When I called to complain, the office manager said that I should read my invoices more carefully before paying. The thing is, you aren't provided the a receipt of services until after payment. Generally, I found the owner, the young vet and staff to be rude and only focused on money. Go anywhere else and you'll pay less and be given better service. No disr... read more

Mr Hall- We appreciate for your feedback. We always work hard to provide superior customer service and it is disappointing to learn that you had a poor experience. If you would like to discuss your issues in further detail with a member of the management , please feel free to call. In the meantime, I am happy to provide some clarification on your specific complaints; #1- "Its sad to see Austin changing" --Amen! In fact when Austin Vet Hospital was founded in 1971 there were only 250,000 people in the entire city,... read more
My dog spent the night in an emergency hospital for experiencing cluster seizures. He was then discharged early in the morning only to begin seizing right when we got home. Called the vet at this place, whom we've been taking our sweet boy to despite friends saying it was overpriced, to explain what was happening and that the emergency vet instructed us to take our joy to his day vet. We explained everything over the phone only to rush there and have the vet tell us they don't have any of the injections that will help him. W... read more

Hello Jacqueline, We are sorry we failed to live up to your expectations with Oliver. We know that having a dog with epilepsy is never easy and that watching them have multiple Grand Mal seizures is stressful. To be fair, when your sister called our clinic at 7am she spoke to a receptionist, not a vet. It was recommended that since Oliver was already at a critical care hospital , that he stay there. When Oliver ended up coming in that morning, our doctor was called in early to meet with you and evaluate him. She ... read more
This was probably the worst experience I've had at a vet clinic. The management doesn't seem care about customer experience or the health of your pets. My cat had a bad reaction to the medications they recommended, she lost chucks of hair, they didn't seem to care at all and seemed like they would only speak to me if I paid for another exam even though I just brought her in and it was directly related to the medication they sold me. I will find another vet that cares about my animals rather than emptying my wallet.
