I am so grateful to Dr. Besch and this clinic. Last year, my dog had a tumor removed from his back, which turned out to be a mast cell tumor (cancer). At the time, I was seeing another vet who I had always liked, but I was growing increasingly frustrated at the clinic's increasing incompetence, particularly over the tumor situation. The last straw came when I wasn't even allowed to speak with the vet about the tumor and my dog's prognosis. So, I came to Austin Vet Hospital frustrated and worried about my dog's health. I im... read more

I confess that the location to French Place is pretty nice- but what I really yelp them for is that they're part of the discount program for pets from the Austin animal shelter. They've always been able to squeeze me in and have been v. prompt w/ returning emails. Their prices do seem steep for the heart worm meds but guess that's where they get their $. Will continue going there

I've been a customer of the Austin Vet Hospital for six years. With three cats, that's a lot of money and time. I loved Drs. Besch and Shaubert, so I was surprised to learn upon a few recent visits that the ownership had changed. I must say that I'm very impressed with the changes that have been made. The place looks a bit spruced up, has a really great and informative new website, but still features the same dedicated staff. Hi Carmen and Jimmi! I immediately liked Dr. Palvino. He was patient and very good with m... read more

The entire staff is understanding and kind. They love animals and are ridiculously helpful. They all maintained composure while I was crying my eyes out, for that alone they deserve five stars. My cat and I saw Dr. Schaubert on both visits to the hospital and she was wonderful. She took her time in explaining everything that was going on with him and gave me detailed care options.

Yep, Carrie C, right on the money. These peeps were grand master chubasaurus all over my guru Charlie, whose small sore on his left leg (Cancer? Ebola? THE END OF ALL JOY IN MY LIFE?) was diagnosed as simply a "lick wound." I teared up like the biggest frickin' thundercat in town, and the staff comforted my crazy ass, perfectly unfazed by the train wreck I was by not hearing my soul mate was going to that dog park in the sky... Dr. Besch's efficient and kind bedside manner was infectious and helpful, and her slobbering al... read more

Austin Veterinary Hospital is great! I've seen and liked other vets here but Dr. Besch is my favorite. She explains everything about what she's doing, the diagnosis, follow-up care, etc with great patience and in a way that you can understand. She'll tell you all of your options for treatment and won't make you feel guilty about not choosing the most expensive one. In fact she often won't advise doing the most expensive thing. It's not a large practice so there's usually only one other person and pet waiting (important if... read more

Hi, After I called and communicated that Dr. Lott referred me to an internal medicine doctor who's negligent care resulted in my pet's death, it was completely inappropriate for Dr. Lott and your staff to send me a "sorry your pet died" card. It's been less than two months since my cat was abruptly taken from me, and I am still very much in pain. I called to let Dr. Lott know the consequences of her actions, and to ask her not to refer anyone to this doctor again - she took no accountability and did not say that she'd stop... read more

My cat was likely run over on a Thursday night, vet didn't think so, said he probably got caught trying to go somewhere where he couldn't fit, concluded that he has some arthritis in his knee. That may be the case, but she said nothing of his foot, which still looks swollen. I paid extra for an emergency visit, and now, Monday morning, with the cat still in pain (the pain meds can only be taken for 3 days max), that vet isn't in today, but after multiple calls, I'm still waiting for one of the other vets to respond to my cal... read more

terrible experience just trying to ask a question..I have had several of my clients go there and be very unsatisfied and upset. I was terribly mis quoted by an very inexperienced employee and tried to communicate with the hospital manager..he was worse. they think it is OK to mis-quote people and post false statements on line...not good. i will no longer be driving my elderly clients to this animal clinic..there are to0o many loving and caring vets and clinics in austin..
