I give Balboa a 4.5 rating for the care that my brother Michael received. What stops this from being a 5, is the staff on the weekend is light, which makes things a little harder, but not compromising. The therapist (P.T & O.T) we're wonderful at getting him back on his feet. Shantain, Diane, Tatiana thank you for the extra effort. The Nurses and CNA's (there is no way to name you all) thank you, your jobs aren't easy. Dr. Bey and his staff of Doctors, thanks. ALL of you who made the difference are so appreciated!!

The staff are the best and the facility is amazing here at Balboa Nursing. The staff are very accommodating and helpful. I would recommend this facility for anyone needing medical attention.

This facility has gone out of its way to make sure that my loved one is cared for and available for visits. I have had nothing but pleasant interactions with the staff. When you walk in you are greeted with a smile and welcoming invitation by Kaitlyn. She is professional and inviting. She is a great representative of the staff as she always helps me check in and makes sure the staff knows I'm there to visit my loved one. You will feel right at home with Kaitlyn. I spent a week in rehabilitation at Balboa Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. I couldn't have had better care. The whole staff was exceptionally talented, caring , thoughtful and attentive. The facility was very clean and well equipped. They were constantly cleaning. All you had to do was ask and your needs were met. The meals were nothing extravagant but wholesome and served on time. I came to this place after being in scripps hospital and surviving kidney faliure and comeing back to life with my kidneys back to normal. The nurses were nice and the staff was very attentive to my nneds and they have a wifi hook up. My brother had given me a laptop in the hospital so i was good to go on-line. The food was good and they let me get mail here. Especially from amazon delivery. I was able to order nail clippers, ear nose clippers, underware, and other stuff using prime one day delivery. This facility is one of the good ones out there. I say that because the rehab staff is very professional and caring. However, the nursing side is not so good. The food is mediocre. Mistakes are made regarding medications and treatments (unfortunately, some dangerous). By and large, the call lights don't help much as response time is minimal. Everything is always referred to the doctor in charge (who never answers the phone). So why the 3rd star? As I mentioned, the rehab staff is really good!

My father was discharged from Balboa today, having spent nearly seven weeks on the 4th floor -- after badly breaking his leg, he has gone from bedridden to walking about at home with a walker, thanks to the excellent care he received. Every employee is cheerful, caring and professional -- and all were so nice to my dad (and to the rest of the family, too!)! I was hesitant to leave my mother here after she broke her hip, but it seemed like the best option available. I found the staff (nurses, physical therapists, doctor) to be very hard-working, helpful, respectful and patient. The food seemed pretty good. Things went better than I thought. If I had to do it all over again, I would have opted for home care with a physical therapist coming three times a week (which was an option).
