I still uphold my rating on this nursing home. They have been great people to my mom while she was alive.

This facility is one of the good ones out there. I say that because the rehab staff is very professional and caring. However, the nursing side is not so good. The food is mediocre. Mistakes are made regarding medications and treatments (unfortunately, some dangerous). By and large, the call lights don't help much as response time is minimal. Everything is always referred to the doctor in charge (who never answers the phone). So why the 3rd star? As I mentioned, the rehab staff is really good!

My father was discharged from Balboa today, having spent nearly seven weeks on the 4th floor -- after badly breaking his leg, he has gone from bedridden to walking about at home with a walker, thanks to the excellent care he received. Every employee is cheerful, caring and professional -- and all were so nice to my dad (and to the rest of the family, too!)! I was hesitant to leave my mother here after she broke her hip, but it seemed like the best option available. I found the staff (nurses, physical therapists, doctor) to be very hard-working, helpful, respectful and patient. The food seemed pretty good. Things went better than I thought. If I had to do it all over again, I would have opted for home care with a physical therapist coming three times a week (which was an option). My neighbor moved here over two years ago and she loves this place, when she first arrived she was in poor health and didn't speak too much but over the course of time and the care she has received while living there, she has become healthier and more active and engages in conversation much more then she did before. She loves the staff here and remembers their names and is so appreciative of their sincere concern for her as a person rather than just a patient. The nurses don't really do much they go I'll grab a CNA... So That's annoying .... It doesn't smell like other places which is good. It's just heartbreaking leaving my gram here. It's one of the better nursing homes I've visited. They listen to us and her

June 2 I was omitted to Mercy Hospital for extensive foot surgery for 3 days, and then off to Balboa Skilled Nursing for 10 days. I cannot express enough gratitude to all the staff! I would be naming everyone! My care was 5 STAR PLUS from everyone at Balboa. I will always look back with fond memories and much appreciation. Wonderful Place very impressed with all the new Changes they Really care about the Patients And Family members stop by and ask for Anita the Activity Director wonderful Customer Service and such a Big Smile!!! Keep it up Balboa no wonder you are 5 Stars
