Please people!! Do not let your loved ones check into this place!! We got our mother out of THIS place in the middle of the night!! She was there almost there 3 week's and we had to make several complaints!! They did everything from yelling at her, denying her to go to the hospital when she developed bronchitis from her roomate, forgot to hook her back up to her oxygen!! TWICE!!! Last night was the last straw!!! She laid wet soiled bed for 3 hour's before they helped her!! When me and my sister got there, her soiled linens w... read more

Do not send your loved ones here who have dementia. They are not equipped to handle their needs. They are quick to send them to ER. My husband was sent to ER from there 3 different times for falls and infections. The first one was determined to not be an emergency, so I am stuck with a $1400 bill due to their ineptness. They had a very difficult time with him and discharged him after 10 days. It was one of 6 places he was at during a very difficult summer. They were the only ones incapable of caring for him. They were not ve... read more

Balboa nursing and rehab center is very modern and nice but the staff are horrible and mean. Do not bring anyone you love there. If there are people that you care about don't bring them there. My sister was in there for 10 days and I asked them every day to wash her but not once was it done. She developed a serious bladder infection because she wasn't being taken care of. I asked them to do a urine analysis but I got nowhere. They gave her the wrong medication and the wrong diet. I could go on and on but I hope you get the p... read more

one of the worst homes out there, im still in a lawsuit with them for the neglect and abuse that my husband suffered 3 years ago. He fell several times last of which he hit his head and it went unreported, when I walked in he was in rehab and was completely confused not making sense not knowing where he was, I asked why was he here and not being checked out, the pt knew nothing about the fall. I was so upset confronted the charge nurse and the director of pt neither knew what happened 5 min later everybody was scrambling, th... read more

I wish I could post negative stars. This place is nothing more than a meat market. Cramming three patients to a room with no place to have a comfortable visit. They are packed in so tight tgat there is no room to pkace chairs, if you can find any on the floor you on, to sit and visit. My Mother could not get into the facility she normally goes to since it was full, but needed to be in one so she got stuck here. She had to call my Brother at home to get him to call and complain. She had pressed to nurse call button ... read more

My father was sent to Balbo after an ER trip led to admission for observation at Scripps-Mercy. He was in Scripps ER because a CT-scan of his head, done because he was falling a lot, showed a subdural hematoma. It was so small that surgery wasn't warranted. Scripps staff didn't state a reason for transferring him to Balboa on the paperwork I saw after the fact, but Balboa accepted him. Without power of attorney I could only analyze his situation from a study of the pill bottles in his medicine cabinet. Of the 8 drugs he wa... read more

Review of Balboa Nursing and Rehab: The first time my mother-in-law went there several years ago we thought it was a decent facility with decent care. She had a room without a roommate, didn't complain about the food, and seemed to get adequate attention and therapy. That is why when she had to go back for a hip fracture last month we choose to go there again. Mistake. It appeared to us they have focused on skilled nursing rather than short-term physical rehab. Location: B In a trendy and pleasant part of Mission Hills... read more

The staff here seem nice but that's about it. My dad was here for about 2 weeks after his hip replacement. The food was not great. The place has a bad odor to it and his room was even worse. I told the staff how bad his room smelled and they said they'd take care of it. The next morning it was the same. Every time you ask the staff for anything chances are 50/50 it will get done if you don't follow up. I asked to have the doctor call me about questions on a Sunday. I was told he'd call me Monday and I never heard from him. I... read more
