The most depressing nursing home we've ever been to. They have rehab in their name but it's really just a long term nursing home. Most rooms have 3 people in them. It's old, dirty, run down and barren. Such an incredibly sad place to spend your last days/weeks/months of life. My mother fell and had a brain injury. She was in the hospital for a month and then went to the Springs rehab in La Jolla. The worlds worst after they had my father on the floor no bed just mattress in the room with three other men. The smell of your worn would make your eyes water and now they're sending me a bill. I laugh at it because when he left everything was supposed to be paid up like I asked him now they're sending threatening bills. They still haven't fixed the stairwell from where that older woman got raped.

To be honest I wanted to give this place a pass because of COVID's history but it seemed to be that only the custodial and kitchen workers were doing their jobs efficiently. The nurses are rude and lazy. The management is sub par at best and the quality in food is unpalatable. So as much as I appreciated the work that was put into making it, it was just unacceptable for such an establishment. This place is horrible!!! The only good thing about this facility is Joseph(Marketing and Admissions) The nursing staff is disrespectful, mean and rude, one in particular is Eva. She was so short and nasty to me and my 84 y.o. Dad! When my Dad would ring the bell for assistance he was ignored or treated in an impatient manner. Please people!! Do not let your loved ones check into this place!! We got our mother out of THIS place in the middle of the night!! She was there almost there 3 week's and we had to make several complaints!! They did everything from yelling at her, denying her to go to the hospital when she developed bronchitis from her roomate, forgot to hook her back up to her oxygen!! TWICE!!! Do not send your loved ones here who have dementia. They are not equipped to handle their needs. They are quick to send them to ER. My husband was sent to ER from there 3 different times for falls and infections. The first one was determined to not be an emergency, so I am stuck with a $1400 bill due to their ineptness. They had a very difficult time with him and discharged him after 10 days. It was one of 6 places he was at during a very difficult summer. They were the only ones incapable of caring for him. Balboa nursing and rehab center is very modern and nice but the staff are horrible and mean. Do not bring anyone you love there. If there are people that you care about don't bring them there. My sister was in there for 10 days and I asked them every day to wash her but not once was it done. She developed a serious bladder infection because she wasn't being taken care of. one of the worst homes out there, im still in a lawsuit with them for the neglect and abuse that my husband suffered 3 years ago. He fell several times last of which he hit his head and it went unreported, when I walked in he was in rehab and was completely confused not making sense not knowing where he was, I asked why was he here and not being checked out, the pt knew nothing about the fall. I wish I could post negative stars. This place is nothing more than a meat market. Cramming three patients to a room with no place to have a comfortable visit. They are packed in so tight tgat there is no room to pkace chairs, if you can find any on the floor you on, to sit and visit.
