I started the process not knowing what to expect from a totally online process. I still remember the old days where walking into the bank and shopping for a mortgage meant meeting a different loan officer every time you wanted to inquire about a mortgage. Well fast forward to the present and the process was pretty much painless with Better and the customer service was exceptional. I could not be happier with the service we received. It was excellent to have everything online and transparent about what needed to be done on the "task list". It allowed me to complete each step as my time permitted. The list showed where each task was in the process - either for me to complete, under review or completed. Really easy system. An absolutely wonderful team to work with. There was an issue with my title as the state put a lien on the property. It was not supposed to be there, but the Better team gave me great direction on the process to get it removed. They were right on the nose with what to do, the ien was cleared and everything moved forward. The website is the best with tasks needing to be completed very easy to do and supply the information needed. Overall the experience I’d say was quite smooth ! They were able to process everything in a timely manner and very efficient. Only thing I’d say at times more than one person would reach out to me so I wasn’t sure who I had to follow up with. Other than that, I was very satisfied and would recommend them !

Applied for a refinancing loan in late February. Better.com kept asking for same documents multiple times. Left several telephone and e mail messages for the “point of contact” person. Responses, if any were very late. In June had a different point of contact, who was responsive. That is why rating is 1 and not zero. By closing time, the rate went up from 1.875% to 2.25%. That would mean about $87,000 more in payments. Even by paying the higher monthly payments, the same as with current mortgage, it would take more than 8 mo... read more
