Piezo electric igniter failed to work at installation. Hopefully this isn't a portent of future reliability..
The score based on my overall experience with my new BradfordWhite water heater. Installed a year ago, I began having problems with the unit within the first month the work was done, leaving us without hot water. The installers have been out to provide service numerous times but the problem persists. The installers used a roof jack kit not listed by manufacturer but assured me any deviation was acceptable to BradfordWhite as they are the ones who do the communicating and have an established relationship. DO NOT BUY!!! I've had 3 water heater malfunctions in the last 4 years. The first one, the water heating element melted, which they acknowledged was an issue, dumping 40 gallons of water into my bedroom. The 2nd one had the tank leak, and the latest one, 5 month old water heater, just failed at the heating element again. Their customer service told me that I will need to file this through my home owner insurance and they will talk to their legal department. Had a CombiCor unit and first one failed with internal leak into boiler coil. This was after 9 years. Replaced under warranty but installation still cost about $2,000. Second one a CombiCorTTW just failed after 9 years as well. BUT only 8 year warranty for a warranty replacement. Do not want a 3rd one. Water is clean water from Lake Ontario.
I am going through a particularly frustrating experience. I have a water heater model number RE240S8 which needs to be replaced under warranty. Unfortunately the model cannot be found when searching Bradford White web site. Model number RE240S6 comes up instead. Have tried to establish situation by contacting Bradford White direct by email without success as I am simply advised to contact local distributor who in fact cannot find my model either on their system. I waited for an hour and a half on phone to have someone picked up. And no information was given aside from "get a licensed plumber" and he will know what to do and where to get the replacement parts if there's a need for any. Not a heads up or even a suggestion on where to get a licensed plumber. Btw, Not even can tell if our water heater is under warranty (I was the one who searched it up, and yes it is). I wish they can give me more info on what else can I do, so my 1.5 hours waiting didnt go to waste.
