We were so pleasantly surprised with Brooklyn Diner! We had a group of 13 (adults and children) that we made 2 smaller reservations for in order to get a RSVP. I put a note in the comments asking for us to be seated together. The diner manager was fantastic at accomodating us! He placed us in two adjacent tables and added on seats. We were also so pleased with the food! We expected a diner type mediocre food...but what we received was upscale food! And it was delicious! Everyone was very happy with their meals. Omlettes and pancakes were great, waiter was competent and very friendly, on a busy Sunday morning they took us to our table right on time per our reservation

I must have walked by the Brooklyn Diner, just steps away from the hustle and bustle of Times Square, countless times, but only discovered it when I was looking on Open Table for a restaurant for a post matinee early dinner. The proximity to Times Square and theaters make this a great place for pre or post theater. The food was very good and, as vegetarians, we appreciated the variety that enabled our non-vegetarian 20 something son to enjoy his cheeseburger while we had ample non-meat options to choose from. We were met by a really lovely front of house a older gentleman who was just so lovely and friendly we were seated in a booth near the bar and met our server a man with a beard sorry can't remember his name and met Carlos the barman also . Both these servers made up for the disappointing experience at breakfast . Both attentive funny and very lovely . Lovely restaurant . I made two bookings one for breakfast and one for dinner which I will review separately as they were different experiences. We were met by a young lady who was nice sat us down . Our server was OK quite attentive we had to keep asking for things like milk . Why things were missing from our plate eg fresh cream that was meant to be served with our pancakes . When he was asked about the cream he took 5 mins and then said he had tried his best but there was no cream .Experience of this restaurant was average... read more

Overall we were seated quickly for our reservation and the food came out fast, but I guess we were surprised that they didn't offer fresh home fried potatoes for breakfast. Instead they have these very Italian fried polenta cubes with tomato sauce for breakfast. We were seated in the front and it was quite noisy. The wait staff was pleasant and prompt. The restaurant was clean and had the classic look of an old dinner, but no potatoes for breakfast. We would go back for lunch or dinner but not breakfast.
