Great food
This is the place to go before or after theater. The staff is amazing. Wew go every chance we get
The food was ok, the service was also just ok. We did not see much of our server throughout the visit (he never did bring the bread we requested twice) until the end we saw three servers, a bus boy and the Maître d' repeatedly asking if they could clear our plates. We were not slow and we did not take our time eating, we where all very hungry. They rushed us. I have a feeling if our table of four adults had been drinking cocktails we would not have been rushed. A corner view of times square, people watching on the sidewalk a... read more
I thought I had made a reservation, but when I checked my confirmation, saw that it was for the Brooklyn Diner on 42 Street. I called them and a very pleasant Mitch told me that the Diner on 57th Street does not accept reservations. However, he said that he would call them and tell them about my dilemma. When we arrived at the Diner on 57 Street, there was a line, but I spoke to the host and he indicated that Mitch had indeed called ahead and a table was waiting for us. We were so very grateful since we had tickets to Carneg... read more
Great location. Food was very good but it is quite expensive and the service was very slow. It took 25 minutes to get coffee which is not the usual New York experience at all. Lots of kitchen staff standing around and not enough waiters. Having said that the pancakes were excellent and the eggs delicious. I would go again and give them another chance but only if I wasn't in a hurry.
Although we arrived almost an hour early for our reservation, they were gracious enough to make allowances for us; and we only waited about 15 minutes for a table. The food was very good, even though a little pricey. Our only complaints were that we felt a bit cramped between other diners and that they had no children's menu. The hamburger plate was much too large for a five-year-old to consume, and yet they advertise "kid friendly."
The staff was cheerful and helpful despite the holiday crush, and the atmosphere is fun and very kid-friendly. The food is average except for the noodle kugel, which actually does taste like my mother's - yum. My teenager loved it and I would bring her back again.
Hamburgers were outstanding. Pastrami sandwich was not good at all and disappointing. Meat was cut way to thick, causing it to be tough and not marbled with fat. Just big chunk on top of each piece. Eaten there before and this was first meal that was not acceptable. Also berry milkshake had no flavor.
The restaurant, like many in NYC, is quite small. Food selection is good. Service was friendly.
