I received a letter from Residential in the mail offering me a chance to re-finance my mortgage and variable rate home equity line together. On a whim I called the number on the letter as I had been looking for a way to get a fixed rate on the home equity in case interest rates went up. My husband and I had been discussing re-financing our home, After inquiring with a couple of other companies we were a little discouraged. We received a letter in the mail from Residential Mortgage Solutions and decided to give it one more try. Robin was so very helpful. She explained things about our mortgage that we did not know. My wife and I purchased our home in 2007, right before the housing bubble burst. Looking back on it today, I feel we fell victim to predatory lending. We got put into an ARM, thinking we would refinance before the ARM expired. Once the housing market collapsed we found ourselves underwater in our home. My husband and I faced the harsh reality of dealing with the consequences of co-signing for student loans.
