Every other facility I checked out, only focused on the negative and what my sister couldn't do. Because she scored so low on the cognitive tests, they immediately wanted to put her in memory care. But I was adamant she wasn't ready for that step. She's still independent and quite social. Is she forgetful? Absolutely, but she can follow direction and take care of her personal needs. They were very kind when my mom passed away. I had 2 bad run ins with one crazy resident. The staff could have handled her better.
Mom was only at the cottages for five weeks before she passed away. On a whole, we were very pleased with her care. Of course, there are always your favorite caregivers who seemed to relate to mom wonderfully. And then there were a couple that were not as attentive. The administration and staff were very friendly and accommodating. Mom would've turned a 106 years old if she had lived another three weeks. The main thing I appreciated about The Cottages when I was looking for a place for my sister, was they evaluate and treat each potential resident on an individual basis. Other facilities have cookie cutter criteria. Everyone is lumped into the same level based on their test scores. No regard for the things they can do. Everything was based on what they can't do. Great caregivers! Management is doing a superb job. Could have my sister in law in assisted living and brother in law in memory care at the same facility!

Good overall. The medical staff is great. I'm not happy someone stole my mom's winter jacket. It's a decent room size with a nice size bathroom. Mom thinks she likes the food.

My mother helped choose The Cottages. She liked it because it felt like a little community rather than other facilities that were tall impersonal buildings. We were mostly happy with her care the short time she was there.

The staff have been good and attentive. They don't communicate with us as much as some other places, but they have resolved any issues or questions that we've had. The food selection and options are only mediocre. They don't always bring the food that my parents have selected from their menu.
