I can't say enough good things about The Cottages! From the moment we walked through the doors, we felt the warmth and care that makes this place truly special. The community is very pleasant, the grounds are beautiful it’s like having your own yard. The community is well kept and clean. Food is least to be desired. Laundry is always taken care of on time. If something is wrong maintenance director takes care of issues promptly.

Staff is great, the surroundings are great. The only thing I wouldn’t give 5 stars to is the food. The food is more institutional but it will not get any better no matter what facility you choose in senior living.

If you’re looking for a safe, loving, and wonderful place for your loved one that needs care beyond what you’re able to provide at home don’t look any further. The Cottages provides a beautiful setting and a home-like feel, but it’s the staff that make this the gem that it is! Such wonderful, caring people that make you and your loved one feel like they are family. We’ve been with The Cottages and this team for >2 years and I can’t say enough about the place and the awesome staff!

When faced with such a daunting decision about where to place your loved one, I agonized over the poor quality of some of the homes I visited. At the last minute, my husband looked up The Cottages of Fox Lake because it so nearby. I can't tell you enough what a great decision it was. I received a callback literally within minutes, went to visit and signed all the papers. My sister is not just living there, she's thriving! [name removed] has to one of the most professional people I have ever interacted with. Super knowledgeable about her role there and always seems very confident in our conversations. People like her are the reason certain places stay afloat and keep others not dreading to do business. I cannot speak highly enough. I wish there was more praise someone can do than fill out a review.

My mom was previously a resident at The Cottages of Fox Lake and I was pleased with her care there. While we had a few concerns, she was a difficult patient and had to be moved to memory care about 2 months after moving in, once my dad passed. I would definitely recommend The Cottages of Fox Lake as a good, safe place, especially outside of memory care, which is always challenging.

The staff is very nice and accommodating. The facility is small by most standards so they are able to customize things based on the needs of the residents. Food is difficult I'm sure. It wasn't bad but pretty repetitive. Cleanliness seemed many related to the cleaning of the apartments. Often it seemed dusting may not have been done.
