I have used both Extra Space Storage and Public Storage for my needs. Each has its advantages but my preference is ESS. I just started renting at the Vanowen location so I will limit my comments to what I know. I also have a unit in Studio City. I found the North Hollywood staff to be friendly and accommodating. I needed a safe place to store all my belongings as I was transitioning a major out of state move. I found this place online, was very happy with the location and online pricing so I went for it. Once I got there, I noticed it was a really well taken care of property with great security features. Michael, in the office, was very helpful and clear to me explaining the lease and agreement. Tom Lasley was amazing! He was always going out of his way to accommodate me and make payment arrangements. Super nice man and Michele was sweet too. I always felt safe with my belongings there because of these two people.

My experience has been great here. Very clean (though the cleaning products they use smell very strong and not pleasant, I would prefer something a little more environmentally friendly) but it's definitely well maintained. The staff has been helpful as well. security seems great and I always see someone driving around checking things out, I even left my unit open one time and they called me and shut it for me. Mike and michelle make this place Period. I have had things come up where I needed to help in the crunch and they have executed every time. Simple an plain, facility is super clean. Prices are comparable, but the service has really been excellent and that to me is very important in a nation of bad customer service.

Way better than Public Storage. Clean, well lit and very nice people. They even changed from a floor cleaner called Fabuloso, which gave my wife and me an instant headache, to another brand

Moved from out a town a rented one of their biggest units. The staff was very friendly and helpful. When we had to switch to a smaller unit a month later, we got no complaints at all. The place may be more expensive but this is the first storage unit that I've had so I'm unsure. The place is nice and clean, and pretty secure - what more could you ask for.
