UPDATE: Extra Space responded to this review apologizing for the "lack of communication" and asking ME to contact them again so they can look into it. No. That is exactly the problem. I already contacted Extra Space, explained my circumstances and was told someone from the facility would follow up with me. Nobody did. Asking me to call again and spend more of my time trying to get someone to respond simply puts the responsibility for fixing their poor customer service back on the customer. I recently had a rent increase in the relatively short time I've been with Extra Space, and that single increase was nearly 60%. When I initially signed up, I specifically asked about rate increases--how much they typically increase and how often they happen. I was told that increases can happen fairly frequently, but that Extra Space works with its customers if an increase becomes unaffordable or they experience financial hardship. No matter what don't come here go elsewhere. On top of dealing with some of the worst customer service you will also Be dealing with thieves. I admittedly fell behind on my payments and my unit was in danger of being auctioned. They use this opportunity to cut your lock and go through your storage to pick and choose stuff they want to steal from you because they're allowed to go thru it legally. Terrible customer service & discriminatory practices in office. waited 30 minutes outside locked office during business hours. an existing customer was perplexed as he needed to use the restroom. Site Manager has major attitude and apparently denies Extra Storage business due to lack of professionalism. Also lied and said an available unit had been rented out because she likes to discriminate. Lots of positive reviews here but in my experience as a 3-year customer leaving in disgust, I found this place to be a grift and I'm glad that I was able to create an option to get out. My primary issue is the price. When I moved my things in 3 years ago the price was $99 for a tiny space. There was never any contractual stipulations that this was an introductory offer but that was in fact what it was because after the first year, the massive price hikes kicked in. Agree with the other review. Total bait and switch predatory business practices. After a few months they massively upped the rent rate, probably banking on the inconvenience of moving everything out of the unit would be too much of a hassle. Well, I'm fine with a little discomfort if it means taking my business elsewhere. And a very quick internet search provided many alternatives for the same amount of space that were cheaper. Terrible customer service that does not help you. They dont pick up their phone in the office. The staff in the office are very unhelpful. The call center is useless. I pay a lot for terrible service.
