Terrible customer service & discriminatory practices in office. waited 30 minutes outside locked office during business hours. an existing customer was perplexed as he needed to use the restroom. Site Manager has major attitude and apparently denies Extra Storage business due to lack of professionalism. Also lied and said an available unit had been rented out because she likes to discriminate. Lots of positive reviews here but in my experience as a 3-year customer leaving in disgust, I found this place to be a grift and I'm glad that I was able to create an option to get out. My primary issue is the price. When I moved my things in 3 years ago the price was $99 for a tiny space. There was never any contractual stipulations that this was an introductory offer but that was in fact what it was because after the first year, the massive price hikes kicked in. Agree with the other review. Total bait and switch predatory business practices. After a few months they massively upped the rent rate, probably banking on the inconvenience of moving everything out of the unit would be too much of a hassle. Well, I'm fine with a little discomfort if it means taking my business elsewhere. And a very quick internet search provided many alternatives for the same amount of space that were cheaper. Terrible customer service that does not help you. They dont pick up their phone in the office. The staff in the office are very unhelpful. The call center is useless. I pay a lot for terrible service.

LARGE UNANNOUNCED RENT INCREASES IS A COMPANYWIDE POLICY AND TACTIC SO IT AFFECTS ALL LOCATIONS, NOT JUST THE ONE I RENTED FROM. Do not rent from Extra Space Storage. 1. Hidden in their agreement is that they can (and do) raise your rent at any time. 2. After ONE MONTH at the advertised rate that I signed up for ($167/mo) they raised it by 50%!!! 3. PRICE GOUGING!!! - Wow. I'm apoplectic. I just went to pay my monthly bill online (I've only been there for four months so far) and my usual bill of $221.00 has jumped up *$80.00* to $300.00. EIGHTY DOLLARS IN FOUR MONTHS!!! No letter, no email, no warning that they were going to royally REAM me. Hi! I've been at this location for 3+ years. I run an online store and developing a foundation, hence I need a storage because I cannot have all this stuff in the place I'm current at, as it's a temporary shelter. The last 2 years have been brutal here. The increase of fees, late fees and rent. You would think if you have 4 units and been there for a long time there would be some kind of discount or negotiate to keep you there, NOPE. There's no open negations at all. As others have mentioned they will raise your rent after 3 months if it's like my situation. They raised my rent from $215 to $295. $80 increase! Absurd. If they continue the rate increase the cost of my unit would be $535 a month, at 1 year. I will be moving my stuff long before then. Extra Space Storage's business model is a bait and switch. Horrible company. They changed my rent from $173 to $253 without even telling me and said it was because of the "market" uhhhh no. Moving out this week.
