Was disappointed. They did not ask if we wanted the meat smothered in bbq sauce. Not everyone wants pickles in their food. Would be much better for everyone if they just asked
Business response:
Hello Harold, it would be helpful to learn more information about the meat being smothered in BBQ sauce as this is not normal practice. Maybe this was a special? We appreciate your feedback about the pickles, we place pickles on the side of the tray so apologies if there were any pickles in your actual food. Please contact us at info@federalistpig.com so we can discuss.
Pretty good, but was kind of disappointed as a Bib Gourmand. The barbecue sauces are delicious and really appreciate the wide selection of choices, I've the Tofu Banh Mi, which I've had done really well at other restaurants, but was dry and pretty low flavor here. The fries are good, the oreo chocolate pudding was tasty, but the banana pudding was disappointing.

Disappointed. It's expensive for what you get. I ordered the smokey brisket chili at $12 and expected at that price a large serving. It came out in maybe an 8 ounce container and that was it. I asked the manager as it was my first time there and I was unaware of the small serving size if I could exchange or upgrade it to the $14 special that included a side to fill out my meal. He said "it's on you, pal" then left. OK. I won't be back. And it's spicier than they say. It seems like they really don't care about the customer. K... read more

Federalist Pig was on a recommended list about a 10 minute walk from where I was staying in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood for what will become twice monthly work trips to DC. Walking in, the intoxicating scent wafts over the entire area. Even on a Sunday in the early evening, I waited in line for about 10 minutes - a sign of Federalist Pig's popularity. Once you've ordered, you wait for your name to be called from the side bar where the cooks are slinging out both to-go and for-here orders. I ordered a plate that all... read more
Having lived in both North Carolina and Texas, I'm a bit snobby about bbq, but this place is really solid. The wings and pork belly are quite good (especially if you love fatty meat). And while the brisket isn't quite 2fifty level, it's pretty tasty. The ribs are the one thing I've had here that are just ok - definitely on the dry side. The sauces are also excellent, especially the mustard and hot bbq sauces. Definitely a reliable place to grab a delicious meal.
So, I want to start off by saying if they could bottle and sell the aroma, they'd be gazillioinaires!!! Went on a Sunday with my son as we wanted to really sink our teeth into something hearty and revert back to our caveman instincts... I had the brisket and turkey breast while he had the quarter chicken and ribs... The meat is definitely the star of the show as ALL of it was delicious... We had the smoked mac & cheese and seasoned fries as our sides, and honestly, they lacked the intensity I was expecting, but maybe my ... read more
Order at a counter and the. Seat yourself. Sauce is also self-serve. Good variety of meats. Restaurant has been consistently busy when we've gone.
We were really looking forward to eating at the Federalist Pig because of reviews & pictures we had seen. We received both sandwiches with cold buns Not room temperature cold, but refrigerator cold which was really disappointing! We absolutely loved the brisket and sausage in the Flood Sandwich, had great flavors and kept up with the Texas BBQ we're used to. The Mac & Cheese was delicious - creamy & cheesy with a smokey flavor. We are willing to give this place another try. The place had lively music playing & seems like ... read more
Can't go wrong with this spot. Food is made to order. Happy hour 1130-5pm. They also have new seasonal food every month. Though I didn't get a chance to try the ramen last month, I was able to try the lamb gyro this month and it was delicious. Along with the chicken sandwhich and boa buns. I wish the chicken sandwhich was a little spicier but overall it was The spicy margarita in a can is also very good and packs a surprising punch. After 2 of them you'll feel jussstttt right
