If you want good BBQ in the DMV area then you definitely have to check out this place! I have been trying to look for a solid BBQ place for awhile and this place hit the spot! This place also has a lot of room for seating and is well decorated to the give that BBQ joint atmosphere aesthetic. The employees were extremely friendly, kind, and prompt with bringing out the food quickly too! My favorite meats we had ordered were the brisket and the pork belly. The brisket and pork belly were so tender and juicy, and not dry at ... read more

Some of the best bbq I've had, including the south. Loved every single thing we ordered. Don't go without the ribs and brisket. The brussel sprouts and beans were both delicious and filling. The Mac was incredible! They also have amazing bbq sauces to add like garlic, mustard, and Carolina. Will be going back. Nice open layout and weren't too crowded on the week day. They are also open on weekends, despite what Apple maps shows as their hours.

Federalist Pig used to be one of my "must visit" restaurants whenever I was in Adams Morgan, but unfortunately it has taken a turn for the worse in recent years. Prices have gone up, while meat portion sizes have gone down significantly. The sides are still generously portioned, but I can't justify paying $20+ for the tiny portion of meat that you get in the Two-Step. The taste of the BBQ meat itself was merely "eh." The value just isn't there for me ($32/pound for DC tier brisket?), despite the sauces + service being good. ... read more

Typical bbq joint with the picnic tables and the smell of smoke and ribs. Food: we ordered the ribs, chicken, Mac n cheese, beans and potato salad. I loved everything except the potato salad it wasn't flavorful and it taste very bland. The ribs were seasoned and delicious to say the least. The Mac n cheese was also a hit. I would visit them again if I am ever in the DC area

Don't let the name fool you - this place is serious about their veg and vegan offerings! I liked all their sauces except the spiciest one (good spice level, just more of a chili powder flavor than I personally cared for) and the garlic one (normally I love super garlicky, but for some reason this was overpowering for me). The tofu bahn mi is perfection - will be getting that again soon. Brussels and fries were great too. The cauliflower was truly smoky - give it a try if you like smoky flavors. The fried chicken sandwic... read more

I tried Federalist Pig during their happy hour, and the deals were good but the food sadly wasn't. Maybe my standards are too high from living in Texas, but this was some of the saddest, driest pulled pork I've had. Where was the flavor? I had the loaded fries, and the fries were burnt (literally, I was tasting ash from the charred ends instead of potato), the cheese had cooled into an unpleasant skin on the top even though it was supposedly made to order, and even the sauces weren't up to BBQ standards (very watery). You ca... read more

If you are in DC or anyplace close and want some unforgettable BBQ, then this is your place. The menu has something for every barbecue lover. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We were a party of three. Everyone got a different sandwich. We also got the Mac&Cheese, loaded fries(OMG sooooo good) and the chips and queso. The sandwiches are huge and full of whatever meat you order. They have six different sauces to add if you like. The flavor and taste are unbelievable. As far as the sides are concerned one is better than t... read more

I was craving bbq and I decided to stop by the federalist pie and it was the only place that was open and nearby at the time. I opted for their Dino rib entree with their baked beans and crispy brussel sprouts as my sides. The rib was enormous and definitely enough for two high schoolers or one greedy person. However, outside of its massive size it was pretty average to me. Yes, it was tender, however as soon as I picked it up from the counter and portioned out some accompanying sauces when I sat down inside to eat, the rib ... read more

Food is phenomenal. However, my review is based on the customer service. First time I went, I was paying for dinner and my friend, who ordered only a sandwich, was asked to confirm what meat she wanted on her sandwich and her side. Got our food and turns out they charged us for a separate meat and side. I didn't think anything of it and decided to eat the extra food as leftovers. Fast forward to tonight and they did the same thing. Someone in front of me paid in cash and the cashier still was putting cash away. I tried to gi... read more
