Not good for an office setting Precis: It's a slow, space hogging dinosaur that can't print envelopes without some kind of major overhaul (and then undoing of said overhaul to return to normal printing). Good printer with 1 exception...SETUP I bought this printer because I needed a new one quickly and due to the pandemic and the shortage of printers, I had few options available, and this is the one I ended up going with. This printer does a great job, prints are crisp, colors are vibrant and prints relatively quick for a laser printer, it is fairly noisy when warming up and when doing 2-sided printing. A total failure I have a Brother multi-function printer that I enjoy and expected this printer to be a step up for speed and quality. What I got was a headache! It would take up to 20 minutes to get a single page to print. If you attempted to speed this up you'd get a half page or less. I tried for two days to reach Brother for any guidance on improving the print time but because of COVID there was never an answer. GOT RIPPED OFF!! This seller was a RIP OFF. Over charged for the printer, then the printer did not work after a day, had to pay $188.00 to ship it back, then they charged a $420.00 "Re-stocking" fee. So total refund was $80.00.
Terrible print quality Prints very poorly with white lines and ink spatters all over paper. Don't waste your money!
Make Sure You Download the Updated Drivers for this! Had a big problem printing envelopes on this until I went to the Brother website and downloaded the drivers/updated drivers for this machine. We already had a MFC-style Brother printer, so thought the drivers would be similar or would be prompted to update, but we were not. The Brother website has a lot of helpful articles, too. Did not buy because of the toner scam So if Brother reads this, your marketing scam with the toner has lost you a customer. I'm looking for a replacement for an ink-jet that does a whopping 10 pages before the ink dries up and there's a major mess in the printer. I don't want to get from the frying pan into the fire. Honest review Because our families tech knowledge and skills are slightly higher than average, I ignored the negative reviews and purchased this printer. After all, the price was great! I am running a Mac with the latest OS. And wanted to replace an ancient HP inkjet. Reliable printer that "just works" WHo has time to fix printer problems? Not me! I had an Epson 4020 for years and it worked well.. until it didn't. I replaced that with an Epson Workforce ET-4750, which eventually degraded on print quality. Took it to the recycling center. I don't want all in one machines - too much stuff to go wrong.
