Overcooked an overpriced piece of steak
Horrible. They literally did everything wrong. They did not honor our 7:30 reservation (on a Monday night?) even though they acknowledged we had made it (weeks before). We had to wait 1/2 hour to get a table. 2 of the 5 steaks we ordered as medium, came out so rare they were still cold. I sent mine back and it did not return for over a 1/2 hour. Our meal took 4 hours from the time we arrived until the time we left. The management and wait staff could care less. The best part was the bill. $600 for 5 people to have a horrible... read more
Crab cake appetizer were ok but bread and sorbet arrived right before the meal (rushed, no time to eat/enjoy) and even then we still had to wait for dinner plates... truffle oiled fries were cold : ( portabella mushrooms were good, steak ok. Second glass of wine, not offered, but ordered from manager, arrived after we were done eating (they did comp the wine). Disappointing, not the memorable occasion that they knew we were celebrating.
I understand that we had a bar table but the noise was so loud that my wife has to move from across the table to the seat next to me and that was still difficult to have a conversation. Immediately the tempature was such that we both started sweating, I asked about but nothing really changed. Overpriced and not that great. Very bland foods, not very much flavor. A lot of pretentiousness and nothing really to back it up.
We have always loved going to J Prime for the food and service. This time we went to celebrate Mother’s Day. The brunch menu was marginal but what made the experience poor was two out of three items we wanted were already sold out, plus it took over an hour to get our first course. We ended up spending 2 1/2 hours for a meal that should have taken an hour.
We went on Mother’s Day brunch and at noon they ran out of eggs Benedict and we waited for 30 mins for a cold glass of cuvée cliquot My wife’s chicken parmigiana was very average and the prime rib was cold and chewy. The pineapple carrot cake was excellent... We frequent here a lot and this was a poor showing...
