I was there to celebrate proposing to my girlfriend that evening. I had made a reservation a month in advance, and had left information through OpenTable booking to let them know it was a special evening and they promised they would help make our night really special. We were a group of 12; we got all our food and we had not gotten asked if we needed anything in quite some time. We all wanted water and more drinks. When we finally got more drinks; they were poorly made and were just not good, the restaurant was not busy at this point so we were a little dumbfounded that the drinks were sloppily made. We love Joey at Landsdowne. The food is always always great and we love the vibe. Our visit this time was mostly great, one of the entrees arrived quite cold (spaghetti pomodoro) and we let the server know who said she’d be right back and then disappeared and never remembered again. Great spot, good food, good ambience - service is awful every single time we go!!
Unfortunately, as a regular customer (multiple times per month) it is difficult to be critical of a location that my family loves to go to. I know Lansdowne can be very busy on game night but last night the food was really not up to Joey standard I have become familiar with and likely will not be back. The steak had no flavour, no seasoning and was cold and the burger have no flavour and seemed different than the last time I was at joeys and not as good. I made a reservation online, where they offered options to note the occasion, so I selected “birthday.” I also added a request to have a candle on the table and a slice of cake at the end of the meal. Unfortunately, no one brought out the cake, and there were no candles or tea lights on the table. If these options aren’t available at your restaurant, I’m not sure why they’re included on the reservation form. The experience was very disappointing.
The drinks we ordered this time were not quite as good when we went there from the past… Peach Bellini the ice is coarse not smooth ice. The Sangria is watery too much ice and just taste like water.
Service is always terrible here - no one checked on the quality of the food, half our order was missing without a server coming by to confirm if we had everything, server was generally absent from the table (we often had to get the attention of others). Bad service always. Typical.
