Always excellent care at this Vet Hospital by knowledgeable, compassionate, and resourceful vets. Staff is very friendly, efficient, concerned and accomodating. They have cared for and boarded for my and my parents' 4 dogs and 10 cats over the past 35 years. Prices are a tad on the high side, but quality, compassion and individual attention given justify this. I have tried less expensive vets and received what I payed for. Dr. Cartwright was absolutely wonderful when we had to have our 15-year-old baby euthanized last week. She was gentle, patient, understanding, and compassionate to the core. We were all misty-eyed saying goodbye to our precious girl, even Dr. Cartwright. Dr. Cartwright had seen our dog many times throughout her lifetime and each time we were impressed with her knowledge, communication skills and obvious love and concern for her furry patients. After trying other local vets when I moved to Walnut Creek 12 years ago, I was dissatisfied for various reasons. I came to Lafayette Animal Hospital about 10 years ago and have found their care and professionalism is wonderful. We usually see Dr. Kestler, and he has been really great with our 2 cats and 2 dogs.
We have been going to this clinic for about 40 years. Although the original vet retired, the excellent care for my animals remains constant. Veterinary care is expensive, but I feel assured that my dogs have always had the best care possible and we have been fortunate to have our pets live long, healthy lives.
We have been going there now for a couple of years with our 2 dogs, and these guys are great. They accommodate every need, including emergencies (in the middle of the night on a weekend!). Staff is super friendly.
Take our dog here (who is healthy as a horse) for shots a nail clippings. Staff is friendly and competent.

We have been taking our animals (3 cats and a dog) there for the past 5 years, and it is a wonderful place. I particularly like Dr. Kestler, he is amazingly competent, thorough, sweet to his patients and their "parents", and he takes time to explain things. My dog had an unusual complication to anesthesia and he handled it perfectly. All the vets there are terrific. We totally trust Dr. Pearson. Honestly, I believe he saved our dog. In fact, they are all just great!
I'm giving this place 3 stars for the two doctors that are top notch here (Kestler & Pearson, and one for the two women who left who were fabulous - Field & Wiedermeyer) and for the past care that we've had that has been excellent. However, our last experience was just bad enough that we are DONE. We adopt rescues and foster as well. We have 8 dogs in residence and we take GOOD care of them.
