Awful! They colored my ears and face and didn't bother to wipe off color. The water that they washed my hair with was so cold. Stay away. Not recommended. That's why they're so cheap.

I just had a bad experience with highlights. It's too bad because the last time I came, my hair turned out so pretty. The person doing my highlights was rushing trying to keep up with clients. She put in the foils and then had the assistant remove them in record time. My hair is dark and typically takes time to lift. They put toner on me and processed for 20 min. Vey bad color experience! I took my mother to get an all over-color and they did a bad job. Her grays look copper and the back of her hair is a completely different color. I can understand that grays are hard to cover but be upfront if Madison Reed color does not work for grays and/or it's a job that can't be performed successfully at this hair color bar. This was a supposed to be a gift to my mom but we walked out disappointed and will not return here. If you care about your hair, visit another salon.

This was my second time getting my roots done in this location. The lady checked me in told be that I also made an appointment for gloss aside from roots...it turned out that I never did make an appointment for gloss, I only had roots! My hair is now two shade darker because of the gloss+roots color they did!!!!!

I'm really really disappointed. I can't believe they let me leave the store with this hair. No one wanted to say something to me that the highlights didn't take all the way?!?! There's no mirrors anywhere. I can't see what she's doing. There's a ripple effect near my scalp going on because she didn't want to do my roots.... Isn't that what this place is suppose to do? I told her to match the other side that is already highlighted.... She did a bigger chunk so now it's uneven. I've paid less for this kind of damage at a beaut... read more

I have been a Madison Reed customer for years, mostly just for the home root touch up and then in desperation during COVID. For some reason my hair has gotten darker and darker, and more and more red. Their medium brown is dark brown/almost black. But again I was desperate and have not found a consistent colorist since moving to LA. I started going to Studio City Color Bar in hopes that working with a colorist in person would do the trick. So after four months, I just cancelled my membership. I signed up with the understanding that it would be $75 a month. And that's what it's been. Suddenly this fourth time I go in, they decide they need to charge me $15 more for "extra color because your hair is thick". From the time I signed up to now, the thickness of my hair did not change. Just cancelled my unlimited roots membership. It's a shame because it's a great idea but twice they have missed a spot on my head and had to redo it. This time I specifically told my stylist that last time I had a piece that was missed and to please make sure to get every area. And then when we are finished I look in the mirror and there is another spot missing. So unfortunately I will no longer be using this service.
