I had my balayage done at Madison Reed, Walnut Creek. The colorists were very friendly and attentive. They answered all my questions. However, the results are absolutely not what I envisioned! My ends should have been lighter, more visible and better blended. This balayage is almond non-existent, as if I've had nothing done to my hair! The color also didn't come out right. I wanted a cooler tone balayage, however, I walked out with this mousy shade. Money thrown down the drain.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend the balayage with them. I was told after by friends and another hair stylist that the coloring was very obviously uneven and for how much I paid that's really disappointing. I like the product but I think I'm better off self coloring at home.

my colorist (zack i believe, also GM) was great. but the customer service otherwise was awful and the woman who washed my hair was awful. she sat me at a sink right under the AC vent, i asked her to give me a towel for around my neck (PRETTY STANDARD) and make the water warmer because it was so cold and she says "no it's pretty warm now." um OK. she was yanking my head back and slamming it against the bowl the entire time she rinsed it. i had to ask her to stop and said this is really painful can you go around. her excuse? Awful customer service, skip this place. Due to freeway accident called ahead to say I would be 15 min late. Asked if they could still take me and they said they would. Arrived a 4 pm for a 3:45 appt yo then be told "we cant take you because we close at 5 pm and not enough time to color you hair." Really, an hr not enough for color after you assured me on phone you could. Lousy service. Don't care about customer!

Was very happy to book my 16 yo daughter here for a brown/light brown to blonde hair color. I have heard nothing but good about the dye at home colors from Madison Reed. I had read reviews here and was little nervous about the people working here. My daughter asked for blonde, specifically a Cool Blonde - (no warm tones, no honey no orange colors). In response to the business owner: I already called and spoke to the company about the salon cancelling my appointment after I got there. All I received was "I'm sorry" and an offer for a paltry discount if I would make another appointment and drive another hour back and forth to the salon again. No thanks. I noticed that you have a strict no cancellation policy that applies to CUSTOMERS only. BEWARE!!!! While the Madison Reed hair dye does not contain ammonia, it contains ethanolamine. ... In this study, researchers applied different methods to measure hair cuticle damage and protein loss and found that there is more hair damage from ethanolamine than from ammonia; in some extreme cases as much as 85% more. So not worth the price. The staff was nice, that's about it. I paid 162.50 for a root touch up, gloss treatment, conditioning treatment and "blowout." That's in quotes because she literally blew warm air around my hair. She didn't style it at all - not sure why I had to pay $30 extra to have it dried, when it's standard practice anywhere else. I will make this short and to the point. These were my concerns: 2. I was 7 minutes late, told it would create problems and Naomi was in a bit of a hurry. She said they have 30 minute time slots. I was not offered water or anything else to drink. I thought I was speaking with an adult probation officer. 3.
