The Walnut Creek Madison Reed is always nickel-and-diming me. They provide the opposite of a "member" experience. Because of that, I usually go to the San Ramon one which is great and only go to the Walnut Creek one about once a year. But I think today will be my last trip to the Walnut Creek one.

Receptionist today off putting . I arrived early so I was timely. I was reminded it wasn't time yet go walk around its a beautiful day outside. I came back 10 minutes early. Its not your time not until ten more minutes. Poor customer service. How about be welcoming? Im a member from out of town. Poor customer service from first contact. I will update after my color.

I made an appointment to get my roots done. When I arrived I was told their hair products could not match my existing blond, that the roots would come out yellow. I was advised to get highlights done but needed to come back for that service, so made an appointment for the next day. When I arrived I was told that they couldn't do highlights either as they are not a full service salon, which I knew. I was interested in just crow highlights, but was told it couldn't be done. Do not come to the salon!! This is my first time visiting this salon, I gave them my inspo picture, and they said they could do it. They told me my root is dark so my color will not 100% match but will blend nicely Iike a balayage (as I quote the hairstylist and the manager). The after, you can see my black root hair and it did not blend in. I wish they had told me they couldn't do it, or I would've paid extra to get my roots lifted so my hair color would match. I don't love this location. They have you check in on their screen and download their app, but when someone greets you, their system shows you are not checked in. This creates confusion about a queue since some people go to the screen and some people just wait for a worker. My stylist did not offer me any tips for choosing a hair color and said she was not able to access what colors I had previously. Cancelling my membership as I am sitting here under my hair color. I wish I had walked out. Each time I have visited, I felt something is missing except when Tamara did my hair. Today, it was the manager who spoke to me in a cold, impersonal tone--talking at me, not to me. It's clear that the staff could benefit from customer service training and respect the customers. Over rated!!! I was on time for my appointment but waited almost 20 minutes before they got started. It was hard enough getting there with traffic even though I left 1+ hour early. I was worried that I'd be charged 1/2 of the service if I was late. So my color appointment was ok. After the shampoo and rinse, I was told I could blow dry my own hair and style it. Terrible experience. Weird vibe at this shop starting with the colorist and blowout completely fried my hair. Either inexperience or on purpose using extremely high heat blow drying hair where steam was coming off with every pass. Even after wash and conditioner, my hair now feels like rope and natural shine had been stripped. Tons of broken fly aways. Completely egregious.
