As a licensed cosmetologist who is also a Paul Mitchell Alumni was underwhelmed when I went in for interview. Let's start with the lack of product in the salon (red flag #1). Or the fact that I found hair on a clean work station (red flag #2). There's more.... There was containers at the blow dry stations that weren't labeled with the name of the contents (red flag #3)I noticed all these things as I'm waiting to do my practical portion of my interview. The staff were very nice but there wasn't much expertise when it came to color. I wanted to cover my grey roots but didn't want to go black because my hair isn't black & I had highlights, well she literally just dyed my hair black covering all my highlights and disappeared after putting the dye in. Considering the price, I was surprised the tech didn't stick around to discuss her work. It wasn't worth the price. Save your money and go to a real specialist that knows something about color.

I REALLY wanted to like this place! As a busy teacher, I loved the idea that I could make a last minute appointment for highlights when I found after school availability. The woman who initially put the product in my hair was lovely. Unfortunately she left the moment she finished putting the foils in my hair. Got my hair dyed here a couple days ago. My mother booked an appointment for this place just because I wanted to get my hair color evened out before I took my senior portraits. To start, I wasn't even aware that this place didn't offer bleaching until I got there- I didn't know anything about the place until I sat down in the chair. I am on vacation and looking for a salon for color touch up. In reading the reviews I found it very interesting and telling that with every bad review the response was always "we can not locate your account"..it was also interesting that said reviews and responses were 95% for the color bar in Walnut Creek. I've ordered Madison Reed color I have used at home and love it. I was hoping to get in to a MR color bar but I had higher expectations of company and how they allow their employees to act and treat customers....

I've been hesitant to write a review but after an incident the other day, I knew it needed to be done. About 6 months ago, I decided to try Madison Reed. Despite the poor reviews, I opted to try the Walnut Creek salon as it's closest to my home. The first visit I had a good experience. I came in for root touch up and blow dry. The woman washing my hair was very very rough and hard. She was also awful when blow drying my hair. She has no common sense on how the head and the hair should be washed and blow dried. My scalp and my hair roots are hurting from all the pulling, rough touch and lack of professionalism. Shampoos here are amazing!!! They've been taught well. After having the chemicals on your head the scalp is kinda in need of tlc. The only problem is that it's not long enough :-)) On the other hand... not sure why the colorist took my color request personally. She wanted me to go 4 shades lighter then my initial color but I was happy going 2 shades lighter. I wanted to keep that going. She pretended she couldn't figure out my color.
