If I could give NEGATIVE 10 stars, I would. I HATE THIS PLACE. I called Madison Reed (925-239-7601) to make any appointment for a color. I called 5 times between 11:00 and 12:00 pm. After 20 - 30 of waiting my turn on hold, the call dropped each time. I tried to make an appointment online AND through the app. I would try to log in, and I'd be told I didn't have an account and I would have to set one up. I have been here several times prior to Covid. This was my first time back. I have been using their color at home- which is super easy- but I thought I'd treat myself and save myself from needing to do it myself this time. I was created and shown a chair. Go to the San Ramon location. This one was horrible. 15 mins late. Poor wash. Customer service was bad

I should not have ignored the bad customer reviews of this location. I usually go to the Corte Madera location but they were fully booked for weeks and Walnut Creek had an opening. I confirmed my appointment via text an hour beforehand, and arrived with just a few minutes to spare but I got stuck in the one-way parking garage adjacent to the site. I had my balayage done at Madison Reed, Walnut Creek. The colorists were very friendly and attentive. They answered all my questions. However, the results are absolutely not what I envisioned! My ends should have been lighter, more visible and better blended. This balayage is almond non-existent, as if I've had nothing done to my hair! The color also didn't come out right. I wanted a cooler tone balayage, however, I walked out with this mousy shade. Money thrown down the drain.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend the balayage with them. I was told after by friends and another hair stylist that the coloring was very obviously uneven and for how much I paid that's really disappointing. I like the product but I think I'm better off self coloring at home.

my colorist (zack i believe, also GM) was great. but the customer service otherwise was awful and the woman who washed my hair was awful. she sat me at a sink right under the AC vent, i asked her to give me a towel for around my neck (PRETTY STANDARD) and make the water warmer because it was so cold and she says "no it's pretty warm now." um OK. she was yanking my head back and slamming it against the bowl the entire time she rinsed it. i had to ask her to stop and said this is really painful can you go around. her excuse? Awful customer service, skip this place. Due to freeway accident called ahead to say I would be 15 min late. Asked if they could still take me and they said they would. Arrived a 4 pm for a 3:45 appt yo then be told "we cant take you because we close at 5 pm and not enough time to color you hair." Really, an hr not enough for color after you assured me on phone you could. Lousy service. Don't care about customer!

Was very happy to book my 16 yo daughter here for a brown/light brown to blonde hair color. I have heard nothing but good about the dye at home colors from Madison Reed. I had read reviews here and was little nervous about the people working here. My daughter asked for blonde, specifically a Cool Blonde - (no warm tones, no honey no orange colors).
