Just doesn't work The printer won't accept any compatible cartridges. Doesn't work, simple as that. Can't even get past installation. Huge waste of money.
DO NOT BUY THIS This printer GUZZLES ink, and I never print anything. I only print one page per week, black and white, and I am constantly running out of ink. Somehow my color ink keeps draining too. The ink is saying it is good for 400 page per cartridge, I am getting THREE on average. I looked it up and apparently it performs maintenance that regularly uses up your ink for no reason. It's disgusting. I'm never trusting this brand again.
Trash and a ripoff Threw mine in the garbage. I only print in black, yet, every single time I go to use it I can't print because the printer won't work unless it has all new color ink cartridges. So about 20 times at great expense I replace the color ink cartridge in question and it works for about 10 pages, black and then another color cartridge needs to be replaced or it won't print, even with black only selected. Will not take any non-OEM cartridges! I hate this printer. It will not accept any non-Brother ink cartridges. They may work for a small amount of time, but then the machine quickly claims a cartridge is out of ink, or it doesn't recognize the cartridge. It also is continually doing something with the cartridges, so with very little printing, the cartridges run out or run dry. So very annoying. I will never buy another Brother printer again.
Do not ever buy a Brother product I am guilty of purchasing several Brother products. I do this because of how inexpensive they are up front. However, the problems you will face with spending time with a "sleeping" or "offline" printer or having to reconnect it to Wifi will make you wish you had never spent the money. As soon as this last Ink drum is used up I am getting a baseball bat and destroying this thing once and for all (Officespace style).
Print photos on photo paper? Nope. Fine, basic printer, scanner, (I don't use the fax capability), but man! Trying to print a photo on photo paper: disaster. Smeary, lines dragged through the middle of the pic. Tried mightily to get product support.
Ink Scam Won't let me print in black and white when out of a color of ink. Goes through ink very quickly.
Money pit - and now apparently discontinued by Brother I have no idea how this printer got so many good reviews. I did lots of research when it came time to replace my home printer. I'm a low volume user and wanted an all-in-one with a small footprint and wireless printing. I bought this and have regretted it since...just after the 30-day return period? Died after 15 months very light use. I had a Brother laser printer in the past which performed and lasted really well. So, I bought this one. Mistake! Even with very light use It only lasted 15 months before it completely died. What a waste pf money. :((
