Had to return it I had purchased this printer along with a 4-pack of toner and a 2-pack of drums from other sellers on Amazon so I'd have them all in stock and ready when needed. I unboxed this printer and installed it on our networked print server. Added it to my list of printers on my laptop. Testing printing... Great! Tested copying... Great! Tested scanning to email... Not user friendly! Not user friendly at all!
Smudges-leaking toner I too have experienced issues with the toner causing smudges all over the pages. Right out of the box the print jobs were smudged. I hoped it would clear up after a few print jobs but it only got worse. I followed tech supports instructions for cleaning the drum and cartridge but the issue continued. Ultimately I was told I had to replace the toner but it had been beyond the 90 day warranty for consumables so I would have to disassemble the unit and clean everything and purchase a new toner cartridge. Don't buy This printer is terrible. Maybe I just got a lemon. I am not able to print wirelessly. Kept saying I was off line, after calling tech support in Jamaica about 5 times ( they hate there jobs by the way) . We just decided to hook it up with a cable. Not why I purchased it. Now the toner is leaking all over the place. I think it will be sent back. I bought a similar one about 10 years ago and it worked fine.
Doesn't Work with Mac OS Catalina Do not buy. After working flawlessly for several months, everything stopped working with the new Mac OS. There are few instructions on Brother's support site about how to fix this, but after some digging, I downloaded and installed a new print driver, scanner driver and new software (that replaces the older Control Center software that is no longer compatible). Terrible prints This is my second brother printer and I'm very disappointed! The papers it prints are all smudged even though there is a genuine brother toner that came in with the printer. It has ruined sooo many documents I was trying to print, really makes my life so much more difficult. My old brother printer never did that. I think the toner is the issue and I hope the manufacturer would make better ones! You can have an amazing printer but if the toner is not working properly, then its a nightmare!
bad print quality, dots everywhere This would be my 4th Brother printer, have had good luck, this one has had print quality issues from 1st week, spent a bunch of time on phone with tech support and got better, now worse than ever an they tell me its toooo late. Come on.
Very poor customer service from Brother Had to give 1 star instead of 0 in overall rating and customer service because 0 is not acceptable. After 1 1/2 year of lite use, the machine is burning up. Called Brother today to see if they could do anything but their customer service is not only rude but very unhelpful. I would think that a machine that costs over $400 and a cartridge replacement that costs over $100 the company would be more than happy to want and keep your business.
This printer lasted 27 months Brother's new printers have a chip on the toners and drums so you have to buy from brother and that makes them very expensive
