copyies images well No problems after a year, sometimes it waits a few seconds to start because it was sleeping I guess. Gets heavy usage by smart and not so smart people without fail
Copier quit working two months from purchase. The copier feature on the Brother MFC-5900dw quit working two months from purchase.
Ink smears I had previously purchased 3 Brother printers for use in my legal practice (one L6700DW and two L8950DWs). Last year, I ordered 2 of the L5900DW models to replace the old machines. Unfortunately, both of the 5900's smear the ink very badly - especially on envelopes and labels. I even replaced the drum thinking that the drum might be causing that issue, but the smearing continues. I had to go back to using the old machines to get crisp/clean documents.
Skip this one We seriously cannot recommend this printer for its current price and the price of their toner. I've had some awful printers, and while I like the printing speed/quality of this Brother printer and the touch screen UI, there are far too many small issues that interrupt our workplace. Abysmal Scanning Software While i like the machine as a printer, the scanning software is terrible. Adobe Acrobat will not operate the scanner, unlike my previous multifunction, so it forwards to the Brother software. Brother does not seem to recognize default settings (even though I set them in printer properties). Instead, every scan starts with checking whether the scan is from the flatbed or feeder (most modern machines recognize paper in the feeder). need help technical how do I get tech help? Love my printer but it has started printing dark lines across all pages??
Would not recommend We had a fundraiser for 3 weeks to purchase this for our small non profit. It worked well for the first month, but the second month the copies started declining in quality. I followed online instructions to clean the corona wire and clean the drum. We also replaced the toner. Next step is to purchase a new drum. We don't feel like a new drum should be needed after only two months of use.
Drum's don't last We have gone thru two drums in 7 months. Can't understand it as we are not a HEAVY user
