worked ok/failed after 2.5 years Total of about 7000 pages run through it. When it worked it was pretty good, but the software's flakey. Frequently printing from our computers would delay while the software went searching for the printer, even when it had a fixed IP address. There were no other devices/network problems. A little hard to set up, awesome after an hour of work This is a nice piece of technology that took me several hours to set up. Eventually I had to call in my IT guy as it would not "talk" to my PC. After about 3 hours in total, it now works. I don't know if this is a very good device for an individual. It is just not very user friendly. Getting it to scan to a network destination is really tough.
The worst printer experience I have ever had I bought this printer back in October of 2018, but I didn't hook it up right away because our current printer was slowly dying but still working. When I finally hooked it up in December, the first few pages of the printing had toner in dots all over the page. This seemed to clear up with more printing, so I assumed it might go away. Dirty copies. It has the problem of dirtying the copies with toner dust. I have two printers and they all have the same problem.
Finished with Brother printers I ordered one of the MFC-L5900dw from Amazon on Sep 19 2018 and within two weeks it was putting grey speckles all over the paper. I alerted Amazon. They were great, sent me a new printer immediately. Now, 6 months later the replacement printer is doing exactly the same thing. After spending 30 minutes on the phone with Brother tech support, they suggest that since the warranty on consumables (toner and drum) has expired that I purchase new toner, if that doesn't fix it that I should then buy a ... read more
Worst purchase I’ve ever made Didn’t work showed paper jam. Spent an hour on the phone with brother troubleshooting. They sent me a new printer and I had to send the old one back. I had the same problem with the new one and when I called they wanted to spend an hour troubleshooting again. $500 later I have a printer that doesn’t work and I’ve wasted way too much of my time on this!
Toner gets all over my printouts!! It took a couple of months before toner started showing up on EVERY piece of paper or label we print. Now it is outside the service window? Makes no sense! This is the third printer like this we have bought and the other two are working so well and have never done this! I wonder if it was a refurbished one that they didn't fix correctly?!?!
Print smears First one smeared the print. Returned it. Same problem with second one. Returned it too.
Poor Print Quality I bought 2 models MFCL5900DW, one for me and one for my daughter in another state. From the start the first printed page was "dirty" especially at the top. I have called Brother 5 or 6 times. The toner cartridge has been replaced 3 times and the drum once. I have gone through numerous exercises such as cleaning the drum with an alcohol swab and wiping off the toner roller. These solved the problem only temporarily.
