I was in dire need of mental health help, and I got it. I was on the third floor, East wing, and what broke my heart were how many young people were there because they tried to end it all. How sad to think they had no one in their lives they felt comfortable talking to, and I know how lucky I am with my loving husband, family and friends. The group sessions centered on dealing with stress situations which put you over the edge: what they are or could be; how to diffuse a bad situation; how to cope with stress; how good ... read more

The ECT team is a close knit, high performance team. They helped me achieve the desired outcome. I would recommend this treatment for people who have not gotten a desired outcome from pharmaceuticals.

ECT- Electroconvulsive therapy cured my depression when nothing else did. I have been to half a dozen psychiatric hospitals and none of them have done what ECT did. I dont feel depressed at all and feel better now than i have in years. According to the mayo clinic ECT is -a procedure, done under general anesthesia, in which small electric currents are passed through the brain, intentionally triggering a brief seizure. ECT seems to cause changes in brain chemistry that can quickly reverse symptoms of certain mental illnesses... read more

Terrible facility. They keep patients longer just to get more insurance. Staff is horrible except for nurses who give out the meds. And I don't think they are pharmacist. The text do nothing but yell and scream at you. Would not take my dog there.

Bro just take care of yourself. This place will ruin your mental health and make it worse than it already is. If you go to a hospital never ever say you're suicidal or want to hurt yourself or anything, you will be sent to the hellhole that this place is. Just lie. Do everything you can to prevent yourself from being baker acted and being sent to this place. They will keep you as long as they physically can. I was admitted on a Wednesday and they lied to me 3 people said discharge will be Monday and when Monday came they act... read more

Well....update may be needed. It seems that things may be worse than 4 years ago. I am sorry to hear that some of the staff seem like act like there is a stigma with mental health conditions. There should not be. That is sad. But, do remember that many of these people are there and do not want to be there. I am sure those reviews will be posted. Many of the elderly will not give a review, but perhaps their family may. Back in 2020, there were doctors & nurses who cared about the patients. I personally know. I do h... read more

I self-referred to a Sarasota Hospital under the Baker Act and was transferred here due to lack of local beds because of depression. They kept me for 8 days, with no individual help except for 15 minutes with a psychiatrist, who prescribed meds which did not help. I had one meeting with a social worker, and a few brief encounters with nurses. The only truly good people there were some of the techs and the art therapist Angela, who truly cared about the patients. All but one of the other patients had very serious dementia is... read more
