I had the great misfortune of staying in the psych wars due to a baker act. The Doctor was nasty along with his big goon. They took me baker act and thought I was going to be released. They insisted I stay one more night. The after that they still wanted to keep me. two more days and I said no. The doctor threatened to re-baker act and take me mental court. (there is such a thing) I told them I would report them for medicare fraud. I was dicharged within an hour.

This place is awful! They need to close down. If you didn't have PTSD when you came in you will sure have it when you come out! The workers are so mean to the patients who are already stressed and not in a good condition. They cuss at them and make them feel horrible. I have a daughter who is a police officer, and she says the people in jail get treated way better than this place . And then they hold you in there for way longer than what they are supposed to do. Scary crap happens here.

Please read this info if you're thinking about sending a loved one for help to an emergency room for a mental health issue so you're prepared if they are Baker Acted. The rules are as follows as per Florida law facility has a 72-hour window to observe your loved one, stabilize them, and either release them, convince them to stay voluntarily, or petition the court to keep them there beyond the observation period. In many Baker Act cases, individuals are stabilized before the 72 hours are up. Legally, the facility is requi... read more

I was there before Covid they told me that they fired a lot of employees. I have to say that it's like any mental health hospital. I've been in Lenox hill in nyc and a hospital in southern Connecticut and they are all the same. The medical community has got to address the problem with mental health. I have to say that the physician that I had was excellent but so many people were baker acted and they had their lawyers call on their behalf. I think they fired him and I felt bad because he got a bad rap.

Impossible to get information despite patient having signed medical information release form. I live out of town and it took 5 full days to get any information at all following my adult daughter's admittance. Called 3-10 (not exaggeration) times every day, always promised to have someone call back. They very often say they're busy working on discharges. I've heard this easily 15 times from different people over the last 5 days. Also, their phone system is often down, you select an option and get a fast busy signal, or som... read more

This place borders on incompetence and quite a bit of ignorance. Unit 3A was is my experience. For the most part, the nursing staff, and the technicians were pretty good in general. 3A is a detox floor, where are the people are hurting bad enough because of their addictions and issues, and they don't need to be herded like cattle nor spoken down to. It appeared that some of the staff Were usurping their authority in a very manipulative and unhealthy manner. The psychiatry staff there is almost nonexistent in the fact ... read more

I am so saddened, fearful and angry as I write this review. My 18 year old son who is a freshmen at college in Florida wrongfully had the FL Baker Act placed on him on Tuesday. My son has been struggling through the divorce of his parents after being married for 23 years. He suffers from ADHD and wasn't taking his medications as they are scheduled and that causes heightened anxiety and mood fluctuations. Some of the new found independence of being away at college and knowing he gets to make all of his own decisions. He ... read more

100% stay as far away from this facility as possible. They will mistreat, misdiagnose, withhold necessary medication & avoid any productive communication w the goal of wrongfully keeping people in their facility. To say that they are barbaric would be an understatement at best. Please please stay far away and keep your loved ones out of their sight. they should be investigated but better if shut down.
